Galileo Galileiは、アルバム『PORTAL』の制作時期からずっと、遠くに見える、美しくも何故か懐かしい景色の中にたたずむPorter Robinsonを追いかけてきました。
彼に強く憧れ、僕たちとは別の世界の住人だと思っていました。
今回のセッションを通じて、そしてポーターくんの話を聞いて、僕たちはあの頃からずっと隣り合った道を歩いてきたのだと気づきました。
音楽だけでなく、青春時代に抱えていた想いや、人としての雰囲気が似ているのです。
彼が僕の書く歌詞を翻訳して理解してくれていたり、GGだけでなくWarbearやBBHFの楽曲の細かいフレーズやサウンドまで把握していて、僕たちは本当に驚きました。僕たちが彼に対してそうであるように、彼も僕たちの音楽を愛してくれていました。
Porter RobinsonとGalileo Galileiは、お互いの音楽を見守りあってきたのです。
そして何より、彼とのセッションは、気の知れたバンドメンバーと音楽に没頭している時と同じ喜びと、居心地良さに満ち溢れていました。
僕たちが今年リリースしたアルバム『Bee and the Whales』には、この時間で得たものが沢山ちりばめられています。彼とのセッション後すぐに『ファーザー』という曲を書きました。
もちろんPorter Robinsonのアルバム『Nurture』にも強く影響を受けています。
セッション映像を観ると僕は「ああ、またこの時間に戻れたらいいのに。」と口に出してぼやいてしまいます。
それぞれの道の上から、僕たちは手を振って頷き合い、また前を向きました。
僕はその瞬間を永遠に忘れないでしょう。

    porter robinsonはなんか流れそうな涙を振り払ってくれる風みたいなイメージだから泣きそうでも涙は流れる前になくなっちゃってキュってなるけど不思議と晴れやかな気持ちになる
