  1. The triple axel rule in Junior short never made sense to me. If you are trying to protect young athletes, why are you forcing them to do a 3A in combination?

Personally I think Juniors should first be encouraged to work on performance, skating skills and technique (one of the reasons why I'm upset the step sequence isn't a requirement – how are they meant to have good step sequences in seniors if they don't do them in juniors?) which is why I would be totally fine if they just banned triple axel completely from the short. 14 year olds shouldn't be training ultra-c anyway imo, but the rule to force them to do it in combination if they decide to do so is just stupid to me.

It feels like while triple axels are becoming more and more common in women's skating, high quality outside edge lutzes are slowly becoming rarer. Two of the three medalists had a fat flutz and at least four of the six women at gpf had a flutz too :/

  2. If triple axel is allowed as a solo jump in junior's short program, then it must encourage a fierce competition as the seniors skaters do. I mean a lot of young skaters would try to attept triple axel because of the high base value. But, then it can be unfair for skaters who don't have ultra c elements because they have no chance to come from behind and can force young skaters to practice triple axel to earn high scores.

  3. I don’t understand why they can’t do 3A on their own.. let them take the lower risk

  4. It's sad that the Russians are punished for political reasons they have no control over. Figure skating is struggling to stay relevant and big events are now held in half empty arenas. The ISU is destroying this sport.

  5. No 3A (at all, even in combo) in the short for juniors is a good rule for me. The focus should be on technique and skating skills. Short program has always been like that.

  6. I think there's no healthy point in hyping quads for women yet – there's no sustainable quad technique for ladies therefore we will convince them to break their bodies for glory or points.

There is sustainable technique for triple axel doh, i see it as rewarding for athletes to hype their axels but not if they're too young. Basically challenging 15-17yo girl to do 3a/quad is sending her to early retirement. Let them try but until there's no safe techniques/training methods we should not clap like crazy because it will hurt them.

  7. I agree with you the 3A rule in short program does not make any sense ,or let the girls do it as solo jump or bann it from junior entirely
I don't know if they actually think before making those rules or not , banning stsq was the worst thing anyone ever could do to this sport , is just one element for skating skills, so many athletes were already ignoring stsq and ss , they banning it is like saying "we do not care abou ss at all ,don't bother yourself with it anymore "

  8. You’re totally right about the triple axel rule. It’s outdated, and women skating suffers from too many restrictions. Not only they don’t protect the athletes (like some fools like to convince themselves), but they harm them, as well as the sport. No one would ever restrict Usain Bolt from running too fast. Those rules are sexist, unfair and absurd. No other sport has such rules.
And more, people should stop seeing young athletes (girls) like fragile little things, who have no control over their life and free will. These girls fought all their lives to get where they are, not to see their dream and efforts get crushed by such unfair rules.
Fans are NO ONE to judge of what is good for them. If there’s so many injuries, it’s because skaters are not free to do what’s best for them.

  9. I actually don’t think banning 3A in solo is a bad idea, as an example constantly we’re seeing lots of women trying to attempt to chase Russian woman which turned out to be dopping I still feel bad for Rika

  10. Inga's technique on the axel is scary. It's like they don't use the left arm until halfway thru the first rotation.
