A Demon Slayer knock-off that’s a little more artsy than most. It has a decent dub and a banger OP, but it’s still not good by any means.

A show about Vampires that’s a knock off of Demon Slayer because of how well Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train sold. It has a simuldub that features that voice actor of Goku from Dragon Ball Z as the main character. It’s like a really bad anime Twilight that’s based on a stage play and its not very good at all, so you definitely shouldn’t watch it, but this is an anime review/analysis of the show so you should definitely watch the video.

how is this connected to demon slayer in any way?
I subscribed to you based on this review alone. My girlfriend and I were sitting here trying to find some source in review or media that explained the reasons we found this show so DEPRESSINGLY underwhelming, and all I could find for a while was folks calling it "okay, but nothing to get excited about." We eventually found your video just a moment ago and frankly, you have stated exactly what we felt but couldn't quite put into words.
We originally started watching the week the first episode aired and continued to try staying up to date until we watched Episode 10 just today, hoping for some sort of improvement in pace along the way, eventually. We ended up laughing at the absolute BORE of the interspersed "kite-building" conversation that was obviously just an excuse to extend the episode a tad longer, to manufacture some sort of cliff-hanger moment. It's just as you say here: This is a stage play show made for drama students without ANY REGARD WHATSOEVER to its falsified presentation (referenced by its extremely catchy opening and ending songs) as a cool, dark, edgy new anime "competitor." What a total let-down, man.
I guess I'm just gonna tuck my tail between my legs and wait until the Wonder Egg Special toward the end of the month. I can't wait to see more content from you!
Your Opinion Is Not The Fact.

1) wait, u didnt know why misaki was constantly reciting her lines from the play? She just became a vampire, and she barely had any control of herself. N considering how what happened before she became a vampire, im surprised she didnt just lose her mind. Her reciting those lines was a way for her to gain some control, and she really tried her best since she wanted to make an impression on her fiancee, vampire or not, hence her last line before she died “good evening, im misaki”.
2) those boring military dialogues were to show the sort of pompous pricks the head of the project had to deal with. If we as viewers felt exasperated and annoyed watching it, i cant imagine how patient Nakajima was when he was in that meeting room.
3) the flow was good…. Until the second half of ep12. N it summarized all the minor characters in very quick succession. Im not sure why they chose that method but it felt jarring.
4) u can sense a steady loss of control of the situation and the chaos that was brewing in the back. N that kettle blew its top when that earthquake happened, the super soldier vampires being released, n the general pretty much losing his sanity.
Very grounded show tbh, considering its premise. Alot of janky action scenes but i guess the studio was puting that in the backburner. Enjoyed how every character developed n grew.
N i cant really see how this show was riding on the demonslayer hypetrain tbh. The atmosphere between the two shows r so different.
This show needed way more than 13 episodes! They rushed the story!
Watched all 13 episodes today. I enjoyed your review more than the actual anime. Mars Red has no business being as bad as it is. The premise, setting, and cast alone should have produced a solid show. It felt like somebody seriously botched the execution.
No its not even remotely close to demon slayer ? What a shitty video. There was literally nothing wrong with the animation ???
oh my god, this is hilarious.
most of what you say is so wrong on so many levels I don't even know what to say.
Alright, lets fucking do this…. ahem:
1. how on earth did you ever reach the conclusion that this had anything to do with demon slayer. your way of thinking is so god damn backwards it follows the same patterns as flat earthers way of thinking. who in their right mind, would make a theater adaptation, with a risky style that is the least battle shounen anime out there, to cash in on demon slayer, the least risky and experimental, and the most battle shounen-ny anime out there.
this comparison is so dumb, and you realize it's dumb, because you say the producers are so extremely dumb to think it's the time period and vampires that were the reason demon slayer did well. That is statement is a bad, completely random and barley related guess at best. And I feel wrong even calling it a guess. I feel like I'm giving you too much credit for suggesting there is any amount of chance, that what you are saying is true to any degree.
2. the hell you mean pretentious play reading for no reason? she was an actor, playing her part of a PLAY. you are complaining about a play actor in anime, saying her lines! this is one of the dumbest complaints out there. and I'm not going to answer you if you're question is why was she playing her role in a prison cell, because I'm going to at least pretend like you understood the story before making a video about it.
3. ok so, let me get this straight…. the show trying to feel like stage play while being adapted from a stage play is a pretentious garbage because…. stage plays are pretentious garbage?
like, it's based on a play, how is them doing different things to make it feel like a play in any way a bad thing?
4. I'm going to blow your mind. hear me out. If something is not made for everyone, it doesn't mean it's bad. "insert loud crowd gasp" I know shocking!
I haven't seen a single play in my life, yet I found this way more entertaining than your great show that apparently everyone is cashing in on, demon slayer. Demon slayer, is unoriginal, it lacks depth, it has extremely 1 dimensional characters, it has 0 original ideas, it's super predictable in every way, and I find that way more boring than what ever it is you find boring about mars red.
what you need to understand is that entertainment is 99% subjective, but quality isn't. serial experiments lain is one of the slowest, quietest, and dullest anime out there, yet many if not most call it a amazing or better.
yet shows like redo of a healer, darling in the franxx or mirrai nikki are entertainment gold, but you won't find anyone above the age of 12 calling them peak fiction.
your personal enjoyment is meaningless. it's "personal". the ratio of how many people find something boring is not even close to mattering when it comes to quality.
there are a ton of terrible shows that are entertaining to most. and a lot of amazing series that are very slow and "boring" for the most part.
unless you can show why the show is like that due to an objective problem. something like poor pacing, or unnecessary scenes just for the sake of adding time to it, enjoyment will stay purely as a you thing, and only a you thing.
4. music and animation? ok, I admit, this show clearly had fairly low budget, so even though the art is extremely stylish and pretty, the animation itself is pretty lacking specially in the fight scenes. but the music? NO. I can't even respect that as an opinion. the music is fucking amazing what are you on about.
if you have a problem with the music, I'm gonna say it, you my brother, have shit taste.
you said something like "the writing is actually good, but it's still bad because I thought it was boring".
and honestly that single take is more than enough to make this "review" or what ever you want to call it,
pretty damn bad.
It's not bad, it's just plain average. I have to say it may be boring to some viewers but for me it's a ok I do enjoy watching everything unfold but I can't say i would rewatch it again, just give it a try maybe 1-3 ep if it doesn't really click just move on.
Demon slayer wanker review
Mmmokay, the only part of the review I can agree with is that this show was made for art/theater students. Hi, I'm an art student lmao
1. The comparison to Demon Slayer is WILD. I highly doubt that the show got made just to chase the hype. I can barely see the argument about the time period because both shows equally rely on the Taishō period for their story settings. I'd say it's more present in Demon Slayer but Mars Red does its own thing with the time period.
2. The reciting of theater lines isn't pretentious. If anything the theater lines being in a show adapted from a stage play MAKES SENSE. Also, the entire theater culture in the show is surprisingly wholesome in comparison to actual theater culture. I saw some other commentors said this and I will too: Misaki was an actress and the show LITERALLY says she's reciting her lines because that's the only thing she can remember. I would've understood if you were talking about Defrott because he does come off as snotty a few times, but Misaki??? ….okay bro LMAO
3. This is going to sound like I'm gatekeeping but whatever- Mars Red doesn't need more action to keep the "other half" of the audience entertained bc there is no other half. This show is clearly made for the artsy crowd.. That being said, you don't have to be an art/theater student in order to appreciate the show. You can just be an artsy person or an art appreciator and still have a good time with it. Considering your comparison to Demon Slayer, I'm assuming you're into action anime, which is fine. But I feel like you approached this show and continued watching it with expectations for something action-packed and you were disappointed to see that it was an art-house show. I think a lot of other people share the same sentiment, but it's nor fair to call the show bad because it didn't meet your expectations.
4. I truly think this show deserved more though, all that being said. Even I have my gripes about the show- Mainly that it felt rushed and we didn't get a bigger scope of the story. I always look forward to antagonists but Rufus had me STUMPED. I've literally scoured the internet trying to find a solid explanation of his motives but I can't find shit- So I have to rewatch the show, which I shouldn't have to do. Also Aoi's accent was horrid, it felt like nails on a chalk board listening to her and her boss. Which is a shame bc I love her dub voice actress! You can tell the show really had a low budget and it's like a B-movie.
Looking at the video publishing date, it's been two years since you watched the show. I highly recommend giving it a rewatch just to see if you can catch anything you might've missed the first time around. Hell, maybe your opinion on it might change, too. I'm not saying you should analyze the deeper meaning of the show, but you should definitely reapproach with fresh eyes and mind.
tbh, I as a fan of the anime thought that it had nothing to do with the demon slayer anime. I think this because of how short it was and there being a government involved in the story. But in the end we all have differences opinions 😅
second edit: sorry I am back but I just realized that this video is only your opinion and not only did you say I am a theater kid you with no respect at all said that the show it dog water. In the end you could have just said that you didn’t like the anime instead of making a video to say it’s bad. but like I said everyone has there own opinions.
