We were grateful to Aimi for bringing this popular but challenging piece to the Nagoya recital because the polonaise isn’t in her main repertoire and, as you will hear, she wasn’t quite on top of parts of it! Nevertheless, hearing a pianist of Aimi’s level playing a piece that’s still “in prep” has a fascination of its own.
The audience enjoyed the performance, and we hope you will too.
By the way, the sound on these videos is excellent and we recommend the use of headphones if you don’t have good speakers.

Conmueve el sentimiento que pone Aimi en sus interpretaciones. A veces pareciera que entrase en trance, como en este caso: cierra los ojos, sigue el ritmo de la melodía con la cabeza y se va, se vaa, se vaaaa… Nada como un músico con feeling, los demás son solo reproductores de notas… y esa niña es música pura.

This is a wonderful performance. The intro to the video does her a great disservice. She played with great command and to my ears very few "mistakes". This is how a real performance sounds. Horowitz made plenty of mistakes as do other top pianists. It's almost exciting to hear a missed note every once in a while. It reminds us that this person playing so well and with her whole heart is after all human and not a machine. The octaves were as good as you will hear on any pianists recording.
You must be a very faint- hearted to stands at some inevitable mistakes and not excites from the noble passion of this charismatic pianist.
She always wipe the keyboard before playing.
