Nice commentary, but the video skipped out the part where Gold Ship had to be blindfolded to enter the gate because he wanted enter it butt first.
Well if he feel like running he'll run strong.
Yokoyama, the jockey, sensing that Goldship was slow and unwilling to run, dared to take a position closer to the crowd instead of on the lane when passing in front of them.
By passing on the spectators' side, he was able to hear the cheers of the crowd and motivate Goldship to run.
After that, Goldship changed his mind and started to run as he should.

Gold Ship is one of the horse that's featured in Uma Musume to be still alive.
If you look closely you can see that goldship started his spurt and passed a majority of the horses uphill. It’s pretty phenominal considering most jockeys/horses start spurting long distance races when going downhill.
