  1. brief translation of what Aimi said..
Q-what was your reaction when chosen to play solo at Carnegie by Ozawa?
A-I was like.. yes! finally! of course surprized and happy.
Piano teacher-Aimi is fearless. Just like others who plays piano, she does not like practice much but what she is different from others is she determines to give her very best on stage. So strongly determined, there is absolutely no space for fear.

  2. A-I have been with piano. Piano is part if my body. I can not think of a life without it.
Q-Do you do anything before stage when you get cold feet?
A-None! but, I write 'people' (more like audience in this case ) on my palm and swallow it. *common japanese way to sooth yourself before stage. meaning:fascinate audience by one's performance.

at the end, news caster conclude this report as follow
Aimi says her dream is to enter Chopin conpetition.

surprise to me but this is what the lady said

  3. @thedirtymeatball Thank you for your response. I see…then you can close your eyes since "she's worse to watch than Lang Lang" and enjoy by listening her performances. I don't really care much about the body expression, as long as it doesn't affect the performance. As for Lang Lang…I think that he got serious problems with his technique and it does affect his performances (the class with Barenboim shows it). I think he's improving at that.

  4. The only other pianists I can think of with her level of emotional delivery are
Jorge Bolet and Artur Rubenstein.  Her Chopin 2nd piano concerto is on an elevated plane of existence where all is perfect and loving….

  5. I always admired the Japanese, Chinese,
Korean for their dedication to the classical
    music and their discipline, determination
to play the piano impeccably. In my opinion they are the best of Asia could
    offer.

  8. She's actually done it. She was awarded the 4th on the Chopin competition, which this video says she's been dreaming of. Congratulations!

  9. 夢叶ったんだね。良かった。前奏曲集の最後の音は両手6本の指で押さえていた様に見えた。そういう奏法あるんだね。入賞おめでとうございます。

  10. すばらしいわかきこばやしさんのどいが、ありがといございます。I enjoyed so much thanks

  11. I can't believe I am watching this in 2023 for the first time, 11 years after it was uploaded.
Currently, Aimi is now a wife to another brilliant Japanese pianist, a fellow Chopin competitor and awardee. I hope to see them play in person one day. In Japan or in Canada.

  12. 出場して4位入賞、有言実行素晴らしいです👏✨
    そして、御結婚おめでとうございます🎉
