第７３回ＮＨＫ紅白歌合戦が３１日、東京・渋谷区のＮＨＫホールで開催され、５年連続５回目の出場となった純烈は、ダチョウ倶楽部、有吉弘行（４８）と５月に亡くなった上島竜兵さんに歌声をささげた。 上島さんの訃報を受け、ダチョウ倶楽部の残された２人が「純烈のオーディションを受けます」と追悼コメントを発表したことから純烈とのユニットが実現。紅白では上島さんを慕う有吉も加わり、猿岩石の「白い雲のように」を披露した。 紅白でグループを卒業する小田井涼平は「上島さんも加えて８人で歌おうと思っています」とステージに上がり、歌唱後は「肥後さん、ジモンさんが笑顔で、それを有吉さんが優しい顔で見てた。だから竜兵さんも笑ってはるのかなぁ、と」と思いを巡らせた。有吉は「上島も喜んでおります」と笑顔だった。IMPORTANT!
