I don’t understand why they’re not leaving. Once you see the tsunami it’s too late. And even a relatively small quake can still create a large tsunami depending on how deep or shallow it is, and how close to land it is. There’s too many variables and things can go from bad to worse to catastrophic in the blink of an eye. I live in quake/tsunami country and we learn this at a very young age for good reason and I suspect the Japanese people do as well. And they’re warning them to go to higher ground but they’re not listening. Maybe it’s as simple as denial that something really bad can happen, especially when you see other people standing there as well. Nobody expected the tsunami to be as devastating as it was in 2011 but the Japanese people know what can happen as they’ve had a lot of devastation over the years and standing at the waters edge like that is crazy. I don’t get why they’re wasting time watching when they could be getting to high ground and out of deaths way.

For those who don't know why a major tsunami warning was issued, it was due to of a major earthquake in Chile known as the 2010 Chile Earthquake. It's not talked about that much due to the waves were much weaker than in March 11.
Oh my good, one year later is catastrophe!!!! But the Experts say, this nature catastrophe happen in all 500-1000 Years, then the Japanese have time to safe this places!!!!
You should PUT flusing RED LIGHT AND warning NOTICE SURROUNDING the BEACH to WARNING PEOPLE when there is a INCOMING BIG or SMALL WAVE..so that everyone will leave the place in a horry and car driver will avoid the place.NOT everyone can HEAR THE WARNING TRU VOICE ANNOUSMENT..WARNING SIREN AND RED LIGHT EVERY CORNER OF THE BEACH IS THE BEST WAY YOU CAN DO.

Getting a view of the only place nearby on which anybody survived 3/11. Only this highest point stayed above water.
I'm amazed that the town was back up and running a year after this.

311大地震で感じたのは、海の近くに住んでいるのに認識が甘すぎでと思いました!!震度7とか来ると津波はその震度数の最大、倍の大津波がきます!世界的津波被害で証明されています!大地震だったのにも関わらず各地の映像見ると多数の人々が警戒を必死に呼びかけているのに、海や川の近くにいて眺めているとは衝撃です!自分達は大丈夫だ、以前も大津波警報出たけど大した事なかったしと、根拠もないのに、先ずは疑り用心しなければダメです!この震災を教訓にと言われますが、海の近くで大地震起きた時点で直ぐに高台に行かない日本人の認識の甘さが露呈してしまいました!勿論直ぐに行動した方々が多かっのですが、避難できるのに直前に津波が来る迄動かない人々が多数いたのも事実です!なんて事でしょう??😫悲しい事ではありますが今後未来ある子供達の為にもキツく言って本当の教訓としましょう。必ずや近い将来又大地震は来るので!ただ亡くなられた将来ある方々のご冥福を祈るばかりです。

震災の翌年弟の家に行き、水ののらない山の方で、弟の息子は、水の乗った山の方で、たまたま夫婦で何を逃れ、家は流されましたが、命までは、実家は石巻で、弟夫婦、息子夫婦が女川で、連絡取れる迄は死ぬ思いでまちました。胸が締め付けられる思いです。

この時日本にいなくて海外からテレビで見てたんだよなあ。緊張感がテレビ越しだと伝わらなかったけど、ニュースがそれしかやってなくてやべえやつってのはなんとなくわかった。
※この程度の津波でも流されたり溺れたりして最悪死亡します。
