オンライン・トーク・セッション “Conversation with Directors”
世界的なコロナ禍の影響によりカンヌ国際映画祭での上映は叶わぬこととなった映画『朝が来る』（監督脚本：河瀨直美、製作：キノフィルムズ・組画）、『本気のしるし』《劇場版》（監督：深田晃司、製作：メ～テレ）について、両監督がそれぞれ製作の背景、カンヌ国際映画祭への想いを語ります。

河瀨直美監督 プロフィール
奈良県出身。映画表現の原点となった自主製作ドキュメンタリー映画『につつまれて』（92年）、『かたつもり』（94年）が山形国際ドキュメンタリー映画祭で批評家連盟賞、奨励賞をそれぞれ受賞し、97年、初の劇場映画『萌の朱雀』で、カンヌ国際映画祭カメラドール（新人監督賞）を27歳で史上最年少受賞。現在に至るまでの一貫した「リアリティ」の追求はドキュメンタリー、フィクションの域を越え、世界各国の映画祭で高い評価を受ける。また、カンヌ国際映画祭をはじめ、各国の映画祭で審査員を務めるなど、幅広い観点を身につけ、CM、DJ、エッセイ、書道、写真など枠にとらわれないさまざまな表現活動を続ける。10年に自身の故郷、奈良で立ち上げた「なら国際映画祭」では、エグゼクティブディレクターとして後進の育成に力を入れ、これまでにプロデュースした作品は8作品にのぼる。東京2020オリンピック競技大会公式映画の監督に就任。最新作『朝が来る』は10月23日から全国公開が決定している。

Although the worldwide spread of COVID-19 has unfortunately prevented their films from being shown on the big screen at Festival de Cannes, the two filmmakers who have been named to the Official Selection will join us to talk about their films and their prior experiences at the Cannes Film Festival.

Naomi Kawase
Born in Nara, Japan, Naomi Kawase graduated from the Visual Arts College Osaka in 1989. Embracing (1992) and Katatsumori (1994) received international recognition and awards at the 1995 Yamagata Documentary Film Festival. In 1997, she became the youngest winner of the Camera d’or, for her first feature Suzaku, presented at the Directors’ Fortnight. In 2000, Hotaru won both the FIPRESCI and the CICAE Prizes at Locarno. Then followed a series of feature films selected for the Cannes Film Festival in Competition: Shara (2003), The Mourning Forest (Grand Prix 2007), Hanezu (2011) and Still the Water (2014). Sweet Red Bean Paste was selected as the 2015 Un Certain Regard opening film. Naomi Kawase is also recognized for her accomplishments in documentary filmmaking. Among other honors, she has received the Carrosse d’or from the Directors’ Fortnight (2009) and was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Minister of Culture (2015). She was a member of the Jury headed by Steven Spielberg at the 66th Cannes Festival. Retrospective exhibitions of Kawase’s work have been organized all over Europe, including at the Jeu de Paume in Paris (2002). In 2010, she founded the International Nara Film Festival, dedicated to promoting the work of young directors.
