Someone once said to me that the usage of danger zone was nostalgic or memberberries. I looked him right in the face and said “if didn't hear danger zone I would have walked out of the theatre. You can’t have Top Gun without danger zone.”
I remember seeing Top Gun for the first time with my grandad at his house when I was a kid. We went to see Top Gun Maverick at the cinema when it first came out. I remember us both being reminiscent when the opening of both movies matched.
Now, you see? This, is the stuff modern movies need! They need to listen to their audience, know what worked with the original, take it, refine it, add in what they hear, and give it to us. There are no heavy-handed attempts to be "politically correct", no forced inclusion that more often than not turns said inclusion into a steroeotype, no "wokeness", just good old-fashioned entertainment that treats their audience with respect. They know their audience isn't stupid, so they don't dumb down their work.
RIP Tony Scott (June 21, 1944 – August 19, 2012), aged 68 You will always be remembered as a legend. I wish he was still alive so he could see this awesome sequel.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. So happy they only changed the jets in this opening scene. The 6 year old boy that I was many years ago was very happy watching this in the cinema 😊😊😊

After a month of its release, I went to see this movie. When I arrived at the theater, everyone was getting a ticket to see this. I was lucky enough to get the last seat. Like one or two people were seeing something different besides Top Gun. I knew right then and there….. this was gonna be a great movie
For me personally, I would've loved it if they could've written a small part for 'Maverick' to have met briefly with 'Cougar' (John Stockwell) to see what he'd been up to after leaving the Navy. However, I love the movie as it is.
