  1. Yume is such a premium OC design deserve better show, this show has too much awkward “still animation” to meet those 23 min anime standard.

I would like to see her in anime with similar graphic and animation such Aldnoah Zero or something

  2. Why can't we have a character development like this between Yuuta and Rikka on SSSS Gridman

  3. As someone that never saw the show I thought this was going to be a heavily edited deep-fryed meme. It was better

  4. Ngl, the awkward silence between dialogs like this is one of the reason gridman and dynazenon feels so realistis! Their non-battle scenes feel like a real life conversation imo

  5. I like how they use silence. The way they use silence is so good as there's a lot of emotion behind it.

  6. you can read yomogi's mind

"look at how cute she eat that churro like a hamster, imma make this beautifull girl my waifu one day"

  7. i fit to be the awkward friend who just stand there and watch these two talk…… i'll be like "what is happening?"

  8. 「え?」とか「ん?」とか「チュロス?」とか、こう言う短い言葉を自然体にアニメーションに吹き込めるのは凄えなと榎木さんを尊敬する次第。

  9. Honestly, the ambient background noise, the dialogue pacing, even the pan up of the camera when Shizumu walked in… All of this is some absolutely brilliant directing right here.

  10. Moments like these are part of the reasons why I hold this series in a special place in my heart. Obviously there are the super cool and ultra hype mecha fights, but there are also the contrasting cute, genuine and kinda SoL moments like this that are sprinkled throughout the series that really enhances the experience imo. They didn’t have to add these stuffs but they did. It captures the normal mundane feeling of everyday life and It made the characters seem much more realistic. The dialogue, the pacing, the awkwardness, the overall atmosphere, it’s all there. And it’s kinda rare to see that type of thing in anime. It’s not that deep, it’s not that thought-provoking, it’s just there to remind you that “hey, these kids have normal life like you too outside of fighting giant kaijus”.
Some people say it’s just boring to sit through and stuff and I kinda get that. But for me I think this is just the right amount of “boringness” to make it feel more natural and not sleep inducing. Funny how a mecha series about fighting monsters in a giant robot dragon has more relatable moments than some SoL shows that are meant to be relatable.

  11. For a show about action figures transforming into giant robots fighting large kaijuu from different dimensions, this scene is perhaps the most realistic.
