It pains me in this tragedy why so many people kept driving. I know it was short warning but thousands of others made it to higher ground.
I can only imagine the shock of the last two drivers. "My god, there is a HOUSE coming down the road at me!" Although it didn't show how many cars managed to flee in time there were plenty of cars in the debris so I fear many did not. Warnings have to come in time and be received for them to work. If you only have 2 mins warning it won't get you very far and no warning at all for almost everyone. That area looks pretty flat so it may have been quite a long way to higher ground. RIP to all who perished.
