Iwasaki Akiko (Okamisan) was taken by the tsunami, on March 11th 2011 after Japan was hit with one of the largest earthquakes in recorded history. (Her village was destroyed: https://youtu.be/RqYXKLvFq9s) She has been telling her story for 10 years now, and was kind enough to share a walkthrough of exactly how everything happened. This is the first and only time she has ever shared her story in this format. Follow along as we hear her talk about the 3.11 earthquake, how she was swept away by the water, and how she survived..

Thank you so much for all of the support on these 3.11 videos
Please take a moment to share with someone you think would get some value from Okamisan's story.
So much gratitude to her for sharing the story with us like this
We never got to meet the fisherman 🙁
Thank you for sharing Okamisan. I was reading the subtitles and listening to you tell your 3, 11 story in Japanese. You were very inspiring.
I find it very hard to live with bad memories but what else can we do? I just keep getting up in the morning and hope someday I will forget some of my story. You are correct to not repeat this anymore. It is yours to keep tucked away and I will pray you can forget.
What an incredible woman, I want to visit her hotel!
What a wonderful woman.
And it's 4K now.
this dear lady has to be the fittest granny in the whole of Japan
God bless her ….
This woman's resilience and strength of character is notable. I wish her and the townspeople peace and wellbeing.
What a delightful lady
What an amazing courageous woman. I an thinking of all the lives she alone is responsible for saving with her preparation of the evacuation route ahead of time. A true visionary and humanitarian, the world needs more like her!
ほんと奇跡が重なったんだなぁ。ご無事で良かったです〜
incredible.
what a beautiful kind woman.
Saya dari indonesia🤲🤲🤲
Okamisan explained so well 😳🤩👏👏👏✨
当時いた人は死者は出なかったんですか?
率先して逃げる人、逃げようと呼びかける人、そういう人がいることがとても大事。
人々を逃げる行動に駆り立てる行動、素晴らしいです。
She remembered her Grandmas warning….and went back anyways 😭😭😭😭
What a beautiful soul, I hope the other souls she saved that day live their life in a way that honors the way she endangered her own life to save theirs.
Beautiful. God bless this woman.
I’m glad she survived, because she has a good heart. ♥️
Its heartbreaking watching events like this occurring but she was concern not of herself but of the staff and people near. i visited nagasaki and was fortunate enough to hear some stories of people that survived the explosion in 1945 the story repeats of people worrying more for others than themselves thanks for documenting this stories. its heartwarming how the community is so resilient because they think of every member
Just came here from the 3.11 video, what an amazing story! Thanks for sharing this.
So scary that that this happened, but remarkable that she was able to live and tell the tale! I wonder how much of the hotel had to be renovated due to water damage. Or, do they make buildings near the shore more waterproof, due to Japan's high probability of natural disasters?
I always have paranoia when I go to beach in my bag I always have survival gadget and swimmy googles idk why ialways thinking for the worst
This is maybe the first video I watch, and I knew the channel for a while but haven't subscribed or commented lol
