The brand new Toyota GR Corolla Circuit Edition ($53,900 in Canada, $42,900 in the US) is here to make a bold all-wheel drive statement. It shares the same 1.6 L 3-cylinder turbo engine as the rally-homologated GR Yaris. But it has even more horsepower due to its improved exhaust backpressure. And is finally available for North American buyers.

On paper the GR Corolla looks unbelievably tantalizing. A 300 horsepower all-wheel drive turbo hot hatch, with dual-LSDs and a manual transmission. But will it live up to its mighty expectations? And will it be able to stand out against its ultra-competitive rivals in the hot hatch category? Thomas and James aim to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode. Thanks for watching! SUBSCRIBE!

A huge thank you to Toyota Canada and VW Canada for being game to make this test happen.
And to our Subaru owner for letting us feature his WRX STI!

  1. Sick video! As a Ford Focus RS owner, I'm sad not to see one in the mix but as a discontinued car, I understand.

  2. I want to see them race again but this time with the Marizo edition

  3. I'm so happy the YouTube algorithm worked for once. I've been watching your videos for about a year now and love every one of them. Keep up the good work guys.

  4. Amazing I love the quality of this channel. I'm digging the new intro and logo 🔥🤩

  5. Amazing video Throttle House!! That is one mighty Golf R and it’s crazy to think the dual-clutch hits 0-60 mph in 4.03 seconds

  6. I normally dont hit the like button, but this "show" was impressive!

I like the unpredictable surprises when the R & the WRX showed up. "Welcome to the few" thats was exciting and funny – Well done guys!

  7. I20N, I30N, Elantra N, type R and megane and clio as well as fiesta are are all setup to oversteer…

  8. U guys need to do a hot hatch drag race… corolla gr vs golf r vs civic type r vs focus rs vs wrx sti

  9. We lost the STI and got this ……..so sad . Nobody thinks race car when you say Corolla . I believe Toyota paid Subaru to kill off the STI to boost their sales

  10. See I kept comparing these two hatches right off the bat when the GR was announced, and for some reason I kept seeing people compared it with the type R instead. I don't think they're a bad comparison but I think these two hatches have much more in common instead.

  11. Even if my father was the owner of VW, I’d still buy a Corolla. Euro trash cars will always be trash.

  12. Damn those races were close lol! That was such a fun video to watch! Great job gentlemen👌🏼

  13. Great Video as always!
So it pains me even more that I have to say: comparing lap times between two so evenly matched cars doesn't make a whole lot of sense when they are not on the same tires.. otherwise it just becomes a tire test.

So just out of curiousity.. which ones exactly was the Golf on?

  14. Let’s do this properly let’s go to the drag strip 🤦‍♂️ it’s made to go round corners.

  15. 😑 I'm not biased or anything but I don't believe dude knows how to launch STI .
Anyways she did about as well as I thought. it's a win for modern technology. if I had to choose I'd still be right where I'm at. The STI has notorious tiny gear ratios not making excuses Not to mention a turbo that dates back to the Carter administration. More than likely a stock GTI would have got even a lightly modded STI. Really wish the guys would have posted the STI's numbers though At least told us.

  16. Would have been good to see how the 2022 WRX held up in the drag race. Obviously no money involved for you I guess?

  17. GR corolla rear arch / bumper looks strange. Great car though, would choose the Golf R though
