  1. I feel like it tries to be like Nioh a bit too much, instead of just focusing on Yasuke's story.

  2. first scene had my dying. they and every anime stereotype in this show but I still enjoyed it

  3. I liked it idk what why everyone is saying is wasn't historical it's not like most of y'all even know the history of this samurai, or just recently looked it up.

  4. That's upsetting that Yasuke becomes less of the focus as the show goes on. Funny, black people love anime but the Japanese aren't the biggest fans of us.

  5. Directed towards anime fans? I hope that dumpster fire wasn't aimed towards us. I'm far from a casual anime fan and this was still terrible.

  6. A simple samurai story with samurai fighting that's animated well would've slapped

  7. I disagree with u saying anime fans will be fine. Most of us anime fans think this is trash too lol. Don’t get it twisted. Y’all should watch moribito instead

  8. No disrespect to Chadwick Boseman but Michael Jai white should play the black samurai !

  9. I was hoping for an animated historical drama about the life of Yasuke and Nobunaga and… I didn’t get that. It wasn’t bad, I had fun with it, but I was expecting something less… fucking ridiculous. lol Idk, hopefully the next people who tackle this story will be less robots and magic, and more accuracy and drama.

  10. no lmao this is not anime eccentric LeSean Thomas is just as out of touch as you guys are this is just horrible horrible writing and animation

  11. You know there have been hard core anime fans who were disappointed with this as they were with his other work, cannon busters

  12. there was deadass one throwaway line about why there was mechs in the show. i literally looked at my phone for a sec and almost missed it

  13. As soon as i saw the robots i took it off my list of thing to watch and watched it on and off for about a week it could of been outlandish enough without the robots and innacurrate story. But i think they decided to make it this way because the story was strange enough to begin and without the lack of history behind it i think they just decided to make it stray away from what it actually was.

  14. Personally, the premise of a black samurai was so intriguing that I was expecting some deep shit. Like, gritty and bleak. Disappointingly, this show couldn't have been more generic and underwhelming. He was basically just a white bread adventure hero who had little to no struggle in overcoming all the conflicts he came across. There was no drawn out or prolonged conflict or a cool theme to explore. This show just sets up the premise and then walks away from the writing board. Didn't even develop any villain to ground the story, just pulled the random big bad witch by the end and then wrote her out too.

  15. When I saw the trailer I was getting Ninja Scroll vibes. I was thinking to myself we have our black Jubei Kibagami, but in reality what we got was complete utter $hit! I only made it to the beginning of episode 3 before I turned this garbage off. Mech robots, mutants, werewolf’s in 15th century feudal Japan ???Such a wasted opportunity to tell a story of a real life black samurai and maybe throw in some fictional stuff because his story wasn’t fully documented and Oda Nobunaga committed seppuku after being betrayed. I hope someone else will create a another Yasuke anime and do it justice.

  16. I wish people would stop thinking that if their skin color isn’t shown or portrayed/their culture isn’t represented, that they can’t relate to the character beyond a basic level. I think this is counterintuitive, and I associate or feel represented by many characters in anime that are not even similar in appearance or ethnicity to me.

  17. this pretty much sums up why i cant stand netflix, they could have had something but instead they said lets go as generic turn your brain off as possible with it. this is for people who maybe are just getting into anime and feel the need to binge any and every one they see just because regardless of quality.

  18. As an anime fan I can honestly say that I didn’t enjoy the fantasy elements and wanted to just see yasuke’s story. Based on most anime reviewers out there and anime podcasts that talked about it I noticed they agreed

  19. You guys realize anime is just a general term right like movies.
And just like movies they have genres.

Or even in live action movies that are based on real events such as 47 Ronin starting Keanu Reeves. Do you really think there was a shape shifting witch.

  20. Yasuke was a good anime especially episodes 4-6 this anime isnt a black history lesson its an anime with a black main character

  21. take out the mechs and magic and stuff, center the story on yasuke's past, make it about the change of feudal japan, war and racism, and you would've got it perfect

  22. Sad part it was one of us leading the project and that shit was ass…just pretty. Dude anime track record is so far not good.
