Radio was saying that the tsunami was washing over Sendai airport. And some firefighters were ringing siren around, and comments here are guessing some of them died that day, helping people.
Do we know why some people did not get away in time to higher ground? This is so very frightening. I feel so bad for Japanese people. In several other videos I see people walking, running, and speeding in cars when the tsunami is only two blocks from them. Surely their neighbors told them they needed to leave or did they not hear the sirens?

Thankfully many survived who made videos, so the World can learn about tsunamis and better prepare a safer City in tsunami risk areas. 🙏

I have watched the videos from that day hundreds of times, I live in the USA. Not near any ocean, the memories of the Japanese people remind me of how traumatic this was emotionally for each and everyone. My heart breaks for your losses, much love

地震発生後から日が暮れ夜９時過ぎた頃までずっとテレビの速報を見ていた。津波はそうとうな被害が出ていたようだが映像も具体的な話しもなし。白川市の山あいの老人ホームを直撃した土砂崩れの現場からの中継のニュースばかり。そこにまるでイルカの大群が浜辺に打ち上げられたニュースのごとく荒浜地区で２００人のご遺体とのテロップが画面上に何度も流れるのだがキャスターや実況アナウンサーらは老人ホームの救出作業中継に報道の力点を割いている。山崩れの専門家まで呼んで話しをさせていた。客の一番欲しいものではなくお店の都合に合った商品を押し付けられた客のよう気分で画面上のテロップを何度も観ていた。あれからテレビは信用できないと感じそれは今に至る。
こうゆう人たちのおかげで何人の人が助かったのだろう

乗せる方も命をあずかる覚悟で乗せたはず。北から順番に津波が南下すると思っていたが仙台空港に津波が向かっている時点で南からきた津波が山元町を襲った話もあるので荒浜では八方ふさがりになる前だったと思います。瞬時に乗せてあげたいが最悪を想定した時出来なかった方々もかなりいたと思います。
良くぞご無事で。本当に良かった。ラジオのアナウンサーがここは海ではありません！仙台空港です！って状況説明が素晴らしかったと思います。
