According to the pamphlet,
this was the director\u2019s first original feature-length film.<\/p>\n

It depicts the everyday life
of a single mother suffering from a serious illness
and her only son,
who has become a young carer.<\/p>\n

What struck me as different from the past
was the way high school students relate to one another.
They do not step into each other\u2019s lives
as much as I expected,
and they do not talk about their circumstances.<\/p>\n

Because of that,
the protagonist quietly drifts away
from the ordinary life
that should have been there for him.<\/p>\n

The exchanges between Soma Santoki and Miho Kanno
as mother and son
felt, in a sense, very real,
and the way illness gradually makes it harder for her to speak
really hit me hard.<\/p>\n

My impression was that
it felt quite realistic
as a portrayal of the way caregiving within families exists today.<\/p>\n

Nishino Nanase,
in her role as the care manager
who becomes involved with the two of them,
was also very good.
Even in recent dramas,
her supporting roles in positions like a keystone
have really stood out.<\/p>\n

Taken as a whole,
this film,
which showed the realities of caregiving
and the actual situation of young carers
as a story,
despite how difficult these things are to portray,
made me feel that,
precisely because it is now the Reiwa era,
it should reach a great many people.<\/p>\n

Postscript:
The work was wonderful,
but within me coexisted
the self that praised it
and the self that was not moved by it at all,
and I was also able to confirm
that a drama centered on mother and son
does not resonate with me.
At this point,
