  1. So did Asmon see that Amir works in IP acquisition at Tencent XD and not just a small guy he is like a big deal there position wise

  2. I played 4 of the 5 nominees and astro bot was the only one to lock me in and beat it in a few days despite a busy life schedule. So yea I can agree with it winning. The stuff they did leading up to the game, the game itself and the added bonus content after launch just screamed passion for gaming with no concern about profits. That's something gaming needs to get back to.

  3. “To those who will win Game of the Year 2024, you have no idea whats waiting for you”

Or course they sure know. It’s sony. 😒

  4. How can they give an award for a game thats "anticipated" to release? That makes no sense to me.

  5. All the people crying about Astro and they didnt even play it LMAO

Jury is made by reviewers and content creators all over the world, not just fucking IGN, Astro won fair and square.

  6. I firmly believe that Naughty Dog intentionally framed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet this way to ignite discussions and provoke reactions. This isn’t just a random creative decision or a superficial attempt to follow trends. Naughty Dog has a proven history of tackling controversial themes head-on, as we’ve seen with The Last of Us Part II.

The so-called 'woke' elements aren’t thrown in for shallow representation or PR—they’re carefully designed to challenge the audience, both narratively and emotionally. By leaning into these polarizing themes, Naughty Dog is forcing players to confront their own biases and engage with the story on a deeper level.

What’s more, it’s highly possible that this approach doubles as a calculated marketing strategy. Let’s face it—controversy generates buzz. In today’s world, where debates over representation and societal issues quickly go viral, studios like Naughty Dog know how to play the game. But that doesn’t make their storytelling any less meaningful. In fact, it adds layers to the experience, making the game more relevant and impactful.

So, is this bold storytelling or clever PR—or maybe a combination of both? Either way, Naughty Dog knows exactly what they’re doing.

  7. Image to create so damn quality graphic game for a decades, sold at 60$ per unit 30mil copies. Breaking record online per time and lose to PS Controller Manual. We are living now in this universe. What a fucking joke…

  8. giving out the astro bot award why does she open the card to read astro bot but they already have astro bot devs standing next to her like pre-emptively

  9. The fact he's never even like, heard of Okami is WIIILD. If he was 12, then I'd get it but …

  10. I don’t want to be that guy but Astrobot got best notations on metacritic for both, press and user score so … I mean …

  11. the only thing I learned from this is that Asmongold didn't play and doesn't know Okami. My respect for him has lowered.

  12. Holy Fuck they robbed Wukong from GOTY.

Look at the history of past winners—every single one (maybe not all) had a massive impact on gaming.

Astro Bot is a good, fun game, but as an exclusive, it lacks the reach that other GOTY had. After all what kind of GOTY is it if it can't reach majority of its audience. Compare to the other exclusive, Breath of the Wild, which completely redefined the Zelda franchise, introducing revolutionary mechanics that inspired games like Genshin Impact. Or take Elden Ring, which expanded Dark Souls to a wider audience and introduced countless players to the "Soulslike" genre, sparking a wave of imitators. Last year's GOTY, Baldur's Gate 3, went even further, reviving an entire genre with incredible player choice and narrative depth.

Now consider Wukong: the first AAA Chinese game, built on rich source material, with impressive player agency, combat, and storytelling. It’s a groundbreaking achievement, fitting for a GOTY title. While Astro Bot is undeniably fun, it's no where near the level of innovation, influence, or genre-defining impact that past winners have brought to the industry.

  13. The guy with the flute towards the end is Pedro Eustache, who's part of Hans Zimmer and was a major addition to the music of Gladiator and The Last Samurai. 3:23:50

  14. For all the "bmw should have won" people, the game was a 8/10 at best with a huge amount of problems at launch, unlike astro bot.
