One very common question in Zero Hour is why do some players build a fake barracks with their first worker as GLA at the beginning of a game rather than building a real barracks. Hopefully this short analysis video with timers will help answer that question and help you decide which build order you want to do. This example is shown on tournament desert and the workers start their journey from ROUGHLY the same location.

Another thing to consider when building fake buildings is that you spend the money in 2 intervals
For example when you're building a Black Market, you can either spend 2500 up front, or spend it in 2 "rates". Spending less up front meant that you keep more money in the bank that you can spend on other things, earlier. (for example another Black Market)
This is especially apparent when you consider building Black Markets with 0 cash: Instead of waiting for 2500, you can already start building one earlier, and then upgrade it as soon as you have enough money, shortening the total wait and build time considerably

So it basically frees your worker to walk earlier instead of waste time building the barracks – nice trick
so what is the point of building real barracks if you can just build fake barracks and move your workers faster?
As many would say, and I accept, "The more ye learn, the more better (or in my case puring) ye get." Very true indeed. And yes, I'm Archaic sometimes. Main reason? I'm Scottish.
When you are playing as GLA. What do you do, if your first attacks fail? Do you setup a defense or?
The only additional cost to a real building vs a fake one is the extra macro

Fake buildings' honest name should be "Incomplete buildings"
