Qatar Airways Trip Report flying from Vienna to Doha, onboard one of the Qatar Airways A320 on a lovely summer day in all Europe and the Persian Gulf.
This was my first time flying on the Qatar Airways Airbus A320 and, although is less comfortable than the A350 or B787, it’s really nice if we compare it with other Airbus A320s. The cabin could be nicer but you can easily identify you are on a Qatar Airways plane. The Qatar Airways A320s will be progressively retired with the arrival of the Boeing 737 MAX to the Qatar Airways fleet.
However, although the A320 wasn’t bad, it’s too small for flights of this length (5h+). There is no place to walk, the aisle is constantly blocked by people queueing to go to the toilette, the crew runs out of catering because the place to store it is very limited, the cabin feels really small, reduced legroom due to the entertainment system boxes… definitely, single-aisle planes are something to avoid for long-haul flights. I will do it unless strictly necessary from now on.
About the onboard service, there were 3 lunch options on today’s flight: chicken curry, beef, or vegetarian lasagna. I went for the beef goulash and, as always, Qatar Airways never disappoints with meals onboard. Everything was great: the salad was, by far, the tastiest one I ever had on a plane, and the chocolate mousse was really good. Just brilliant, as always in this aspect.
Talking about the route, we departed from runway 34 in Vienna and, after a quick right turn, we started our route towards Doha. First, we flew just next to Bratislava, at a very low altitude, which offered us probably the best views of this city on the channel to date. Then we flew over Budapest, Bucharest, and north of Varna. From there we flew towards Turkey and Irak, over where we enjoyed some of the mountain views of the channel to date as well. It was impressive. After 5h45min we landed in Doha on time, ending that way a very nice flight with Qatar Airways.

This seems to be an "Extra" flight, flown 4 times a week. Qatar Airways' regular service VIE-DOH is a daily 787-8 Dreamliner.

This trip and this very plane reminds me of the very good times when I used to travel back and forth from Alexandria (Egypt) to Muscat via Doha during vacations. I experienced different aircrafts with them mostly the A320s, B787 , B777 and A330. Last time I flown with them was in 2016 and from what I saw in his video I can say Qatar Airways has improved since then. As always Kudos to them man 🤙.

I think their economy products, even in their narrow body planes , are almost equivalent to premium economy products of other airlines.

Hola amigo de Galicia, puedo mencionar las tres ciudades que aparece en ese video que son:
1.- Bratislava: Si es la capital de Eslovaquía, pero no es tan turistica porque fue parte de la antigua Checoeslovaquía,el pais comunista hasta en el año 1993, a pesar que su slogan turistico que dice: "La Belleza de Danubio".
2.- Budapest; Es la actual capital de Hungría, que fue parte del Imperio Austro-Hungaro (la Emperatriz Sissi, fue Reina de Hungría) y ahora es mucho mas turistica que la anterior. Ya que su slogan se le dice "La Reina del Danubio", es una ciudad superbellisima que vale la pena visitar.
3.- Basora: Durante la Guerra del Golfo Persico (fue ocurrido en el año 1991), esa ciudad ha sido mencionada por muchisimas veces en los noticieros de ese entonces, que ahora estoy buscando algunas informaciones de esa ciudad iraquí. Recuerde soy panameño 100%, mi pais es Panamá fue invadido por los gringos porque los esbirros de la dictadura militar panameños de ese entonces han robado el triunfo de la oposición que ganó casi el 80% por eso esos dictadores tenian mucho miedo porque su próximo destino era la carcel o en el exilio porque hicieron tanto daño a mi Panamá de ese entonces (gobernó de manera ilegal que duró 21 años). Gracias a los gringos y recuperamos la democracia.
Excelente video, me gustó y recuerde no me atrevo a viajar a Doha, la capital de Qatar debido a su fuerte clima, no soporto el calor ya que la Ciudad de Panamá es cálida y 100% humedo, por eso prefiero es el clima fresco como el aire acondicionado 100% natural. Y por cierto tienes bonitas zapatillas rojas que algun dia quiero comprar.

Good to know about your opinion on semi-long haul flights onboard short haul single isle planes. Before I thought it was doable, because in the past they flew planes like the DC-8 on long haul routes.
Double isle B767 would be better?

Lucas a great report like always.Qatar Airways narrow body is not the same…. The only thing I don't like is the color of the economy class seat, it reminds me raw meat, just like binter canária ones.
Nicley done as always sir, think Qatar have bitten themselves in the foot by means of having a spat with Airbus over the 350 paint and ditching the A321 Neo's for the MAX, especially for routes like these mid haul narrow body routes. Guess time will tell.

Magnífico reporte. Cada día se está haciendo costumbre (por costos) volar largos trayectos en aviones más económicos. La aviación como la conocíamos al parecer está quedando atrás.
