I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the detailed simulations of the ‘bus in MSFS and X Plane 11. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Someone will come along and Zibofy it….it’ll just take a long time.
Hi,
Abit Off-topic but I have been recently flying and got a L/R INNER TK LO TEMP warning and was wondering how you can resolve the issue (How to find warmer ALT layers, how much you have to increase speed, does FUEL X FEED work?, etc…).
Great Content as usuall
Anyone been able to observe XP12’s load on the various processor cores? XP11 always pegged a single core on my machine but it seemed to not use any of the other cores, which seemed like a huge s waste of an expensive CPU.
Any comments/observations appreciated!
I can see why people who don't fly for a living would want a sim that feels as real to how a real aircraft flies but for me, who is a pilot in the corporate aviation industry, I will take the fantastic visuals in MSFS over XP12 any day. And coming from a pilot who flies all over the world and has flown numerous aircraft, the aircraft physics in MSFS really aren't as bad as a lot of backseat pilots seem to think.
You are somewhat the only person on yt, who Talks constructive and positive about xp12, Appreciate it!💪 no "ground bad, everything bad".
For me the X-plane 12 is a bit of a disappointment. I used to have around 40fps in X-plane 11 and the Tollis A319 loaded with graphics set to almost maximum. Barely got 20 fps with a Cessna in XP12 with settings close to minimum. I do hope Laminar is working on some serious optimisations and brings them asap, otherwise this was a waste of sixty bucks…
Great review a320 a good non biased view
the way i see it…its miles better and more accurate and authentic than MSFS. MSFS is too much a 'game'. X-Plane is NOT clearly, a 'Game'.
It does look quite stunning!
To arm the speed brakes there is an up and down arrow icon when you hover over it and it will allow you to pull to arm. Thanks for the good videos as usual Cap!
Thank you Capt for doing this video. I use only Macs so this will be very important since it will be my only choice in flight sims. Cheers to you and the 1st officer.
X plane BETTER
Installed the demo, flew it for the allowed 15 minutes. Fired up MSFS and flew the Spitfire for 15 minutes. Landed, then uninstalled X-Plane 12…
looks amazing sir hope your all good
Oh, nice, the lighting seems to be a lot better. The worst thing on XPlane 11 for me are these strange olive-beige-touched colors
Great intro.for x plane 12,well done. Its great to follow a real pilot ,and learn, all the complex procedures for flying in such a laid back calming manner.
I am pretty sure XP12 does not yet have night textures which is why it's so dark at night. It has vehicle lights, some airport lighting and streetlights but no texture or house/factory lighting as yet.
A really enjoyable review, thank you.
*Switches weather from rain to a sunny day.
"There we go, a bit more of a normal day over London."
I am very confused by that statement, lol.
lovely vidéo. Great job. Thanks.
Really usefull and funny to see. Just beautifull
How do I extend x plane 11 to 12
Very capable aircraft the F-14, easily finished off the SU-57 in TopGun – Incentive Ride
What resolution are you running at pls? Great video thanks 🙏
Can you do a video where you compare the physics engine and the handling of x plane 12 vs msfs 2020?
So everything works and looks as XP11, Ortho looks the same as in XP11. Why are we paying XP11 twice?
Great review….thanks man!
after xp12 launch, all runway have water puddle, no matter where, when and how the weather was
Finally a very good and honest review. I like thw small detail u mentioned in this sim. Remember its only beta. Once 3rd party can be installed this sim will be much better
This damp effect isnt in msfs 2020☹
Where there is water puddles on some parts of the runway
The wind shield effect is supurb
The f14d actually does have fbw. Still looks like a toy flight model though.
Forward slips do not work correctly. Watch my video "X-Plane 12 has a bad flight model – forward slips" and see if you can reproduce.
XP 12 has been a real disappointment. Blurry clouds with very weird cloud shapes, Poor autogen with poor regionalization for the autogen. Mediocre FPS. Graphics from 2013 or 2014. Boeing FMC in the A330. I can’t believe LR released it as it is.
Totally dissappointed by the visuals. We got spoiled by MSFS and DCS…
I already have MSFS, should I get this too
self confessed and unashamed MSFS fanboy here. holy heck i'm impressed. the ground handling looks so real, that plane looked really heavy when you were taxiing to the runway, i could feel it. and the atmospheric lighting looks pretty incredible. i'm almost solely a vfr pleasure flyer, in real life and in the sim, so MSFS works great for what i want it to do. but the bigger boys who love pressing buttons are getting a great sim which will only improve as 320SP says.hopefully the 2 sims push each other to great things. i can't wait for MSFS to get some of the handling characteristics ive seen so far from XP12
If they just work on the grass then x plane 12 can be even closer to msf2020
What I really want MSFS to take from X-Plane is car traffic. It's much better and realistic in X-Plane.
A great review – if we can arrange a wedding in heaven between this and MSFS I would be really happy. I will probably get this when there are some high fidelity aircraft available, but I am a little concerned that flying over legoland (esp on approach and takeoff) is not going to be as visually satisfying as in MSFS. For me the clouds are not as convincing as in MSFS. On the otherhand the condensation, spray and rain effects are nice.
Only just started watching this vid and what a beautiful into piece with the A330 taking off. Those water effects man, just awesome! Thanks Cap!
XP11 had a purpose, it was a great alternative to P3D and offered a much more realistic experience with regards to flight dynamics, the night lighting was incredible and it felt a much better sim.
XP12 doesn’t serve a purpose, graphically it’s far behind FS2020 (which let’s face it, is what it’ll be judged by), FS2020 means I can fly anywhere in the world and actually see real landmarks, see the world as it really is, whereas XP12 uses poor autogen and ground textures, the clouds and weather in FS2020 is superb, the lighting environment is incredible, in XP12 the clouds look poor, the weather changes in XP12 aren’t good (clouds look like they’re pulsating), the flight dynamics in FS2020 are good (regardless of what the XP fanboys say), the edges that XP11 had over P3D are no longer the case with FS2020.
The only thing that looks better in XP is the ground handling, which in FS2020 is pretty awful.
It’s a shame because XP had many years to develop a leading sim post FSX/P3D, releasing this after FS2020 is like taking a step back in time.
No disrespect to XP, competition in our niche hobby is always a good thing.
Sadly it looks like modded X-plane 11. Nothing groundbreaking. Too bad because I hoped for something with MSFS2020 graphics (real terrain, cool weather), better ATC and X-plane physics simulation. For now it doesn't meet any of these requirement. Also Microsoft and Asobo are really active with MSFS updates (they also prepare free anniversary update with new planes and so on) so Laminar Studios won't be competetive to Microsoft with this product…
Thought you'll do something like a barrel roll or a stall recovery with the Airbus to test the authenticity, then I realized that you won't know how a real Airbus behave to compare…
Hi,. did they include weather radar too on this default A330? thanks
The A330 is a massive disappointment. In fact everything is apart from the clouds maybe and the flight model. But interestingly there are so many just way too noticeable bugs even for an open access version. So why did they release it now? Why not give it a few more months? The only reason I see is they didn't want too many more people investing in MSFS because once they have they'll be much harder to get back. This essentially proves they know they can't compete with Microsoft and this is a desperate attempt to keep some of their fanboys with them for a bit longer.
Sadly the poor scenary will be a decision point for me. They missed a trick with sat scenary
when i flew the default a330 i was very pleasantly surprised! imo the best default airliner to ever come out of any sim, if laminar chooses to complete it through and through (i've heard that there will me a custom MCDU on full release) we could finally have a really good default airliner
