  1. All in all, this looks like it would be neat if it came out 5 years ago. I have a hard time seeing this being a big time competitor to msfs2020.

  2. It is clear that xplane 12 isn't graphically as advanced as MSFS 2020 which is a shame, as if xplane 12 could get the graphics the competitor has, there would be no discussion. But it is good to see that you are one youtuber with a brain and used the default xplane 12 also to review it. Some pathetic youtuber who wears a captain t-shirt decided to load 3rd party airports from xplane 11 into xplane 12 which are known to be poorly optimized in xp11 already and a bunch of addons not updated to xp12 only to then give a review of xp12 while he uploaded all his non optimized xp11 addons. Anyway, xp12 isn't on par graphically with MSFS2020 and that's just a fact. Laminar has the best flight model, but they have to overhaul their graphics.

  3. I would like to just say personally that I felt X-Plane 12 was a mile in front of MSFS2020 for its first day. We will have to see what it is like after the first two years that MSFS2020 has had to date. I feel that we can’t expect too much for the first day. I absolutely love it and the future will be even more amazing. I have put my MSFS2020 in the cupboard to stay.

  4. I had no hesitation in paying the money to purchase the sim now and into the future it will be a good investment. They have worked hard to date and have well and truly desire the monies. It was well priced for what has to come with the sim in the future.

  5. A long time user of x plane 11 and now msfs with pmdg 737 and fenix a320. I only use vr so was looking forward to checking out x plane 12. Downloaded the demo but was very disappointed with the performance no matter what the settings, flickering textures and glowing clouds. I was very impressed with the lighting, no over exposure like msfs and the rain effects. The flight model feels good but I'm not qualified to make a proper judgement. It's not for me at the moment and have now deleted the demo. I will try it out in a few months again.

  6. -Lighting
    Improved, but still really procedural.
Sun emits too much light. It is caused deliberately to make light penetrate through the clouds. If they limit the emission, sunsets/sunrises will lose it’s look.
Daytime atmosphere looks really good, individual tastes. Already confirmed by Enhanced Skyscapes dev, that atmosphere and clouds are non-modifiable. Only sim devs can fix lighting issues. (In the cockpit for example)
    -Autogen
For the VFR, it’s still a torture. Have to use ortho to navigate properly. Get ready to buy a new drive, or enjoy what you already got.
    -Trees
Looks decent. Unfortunately, due to high number of polys, pretty sparsely generated. (performance reasons)
Would love to see the actual, dense forest from the altitude, not some trees placed on the texture.
    -Water
Great for seaplane enjoyers.Although, not looking good from higher altitudes. Like in 11.
    -Flight model
Still using BET. (Encourage to check CFD, engine which MSFS uses) I know that major part of the community judges the dynamics by looking at interia. Even some pretty educated streamers. You feel interia – you have feeling. Super engine, over. That’s not how it works, for example P-Factor. X-Plane still lacks here. Same thing with the ground effect. Xplane’s atmosphere simply doesn’t read the surface.
3rd party Devs have to make a huge amount of work-arounds.
    -Avionics
Nothing new here, things unchanged. Same troubles.
By the way, why they haven’t introduced SVT in Garmin G1000+? Still a lot to do in overall Garmin enviro.
    -Wx engine
Usually generating proper data. Unfortunately, transitions not as good as even X-Enviro has.
I love you optimism guys, but I don’t see it here. XP11 development was really, really sluggish. Vulkan hasn’t been working properly till the end of 11 development.
First two years of xp11 life was a fight for every fps.
Now, these things seems to be overcame (with the new product) , but some new issues came up. For many of you, these lighting improvements or clouds are just some fixes to do. Actually, it’s a long way of rebuilding. Light and cloud generating core lacks. Despite the mysterious changes of aircraft’s behaviour on the ground, I do not see the progress. (Evidenced by the instant planes compability/ or really soon)
    Xp still uses old BET.
Graphics for me are archaic. You can tell about your preference about skycolors, but things like buildings not reflecting at all, don’t satisfy my eyes. Now it still may look kinda ok, but hey – they had to create completely new sim to properly introduce Vulkan. I don’t see the future.

    EDIT:
You’ve said that xplane flight model is approved by the FAA. IT IS NOT! X-Plane is adapted to be approved. You still have many things to do, to have this certified. MSFS also can be certified. But is not currently adapted. (What I mean there – you cannot connect multiple virtual flight instruments out of the box for example) Please research FAA Flight Sim certification rules.

  7. It's not much different then X Plane 11. I will hold off on getting it. I have lots of add ons in 11. And I think the Cloud add on I have in 11 looks better then 12s clouds. I think they need a lot more people working there to pull off a real new sim. It's been a long time and really did not make a real big improvement. But if I want nice looking scenery, I just use FS 2020. I really hate the updates in FS 2020. They take up a lot of hard drive space. I also have Flightsim X and think the clouds look better in that sim then in 12 lol.

  8. MCDU FOR AIRCRAFT A330 Expected disappointment I was betting that the plane would be perfect, unfortunately, I will not be disappointed, so I do not buy this product unless I fly the plane computer and make it professional

  9. Is there any AI aircraft in this game flying around and taxiing? Or is that going to be through addons?

  10. For sure, xp12 needs improvement in terms of scenery, what is promised by LR. But it doesn´t change my mind that x-plane is my simulator. We all will see what happens. Take care Osamah and community!

  11. I personally disagree with those that say there is no change in the scenery from xplane 11 to XPlane 12. I think personally that the scenery is a game changer on xplane 11. It is just so much matter and the 1st day and to be able to do a great flight with great scenery it is a credit to the team. I could see the difference between the two straight away. I praise the team for their efforts and am so looking forward to the future updates in xplane12. THE BEST IS YET TO COME IT WILL JUST TAKE TIME AND CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AND HELP FROM EVERYONE.

  12. I think the sentiment at 11:50 sums it up nicely. With a screen full of fog, it is a very immersive experience. I think the planes look great. The fact that the environments really didn’t change much from x-plane 11 is disappointing. I was hoping for more. That said, likely going to pick it up. Curious to feel the difference from msfs2020. Thanks for the review.

  13. Doesn't feel like much of an upgrade to 11 yet. So we will see in the future

  14. Thanks for the review. I still think most that complain don't understand what x-plane 11,12 is targeted for. Its NOT a game like MSFS2020. Its targeted toward those that are pilots and aviation enthusiasts that value "realism" and I mean flight realism not airport/city views. I have a ppl and have also flown motion D 747 sims and the graphics are horrible. its all about the realism of "flight". For me this is an great upgrade to v11. Both sims have their target audience. Gamers will always love visuals and pilots/those that want the closest to realistic flight will have their products.

  15. people you have to understand that laminar doesn't have the same resources that MSFS2020 does have with the satellite scenery generator, therefore the scenery doesn't look great, but they have done an amazing job with the physics and weather, it looks really immersive for study cases. thank you Q8Pilot for the awesome video!

  16. wow, apart from the runway lighting, I really don't see an urge to upgrade to 12. All I needed was a properly working ATC!. All else looked and worked well in XP 11. What a let down. They even got the a330 wrong. I know this is a Beta, but I am not hoping for more. 🙃🥲

  17. Forward slips do not work correctly. Watch my video "X-Plane 12 has a bad flight model – forward slips" and see if you can reproduce.
