物語の舞台は2020年、ニューメキシコ州の小さな町、エディントン。コロナ禍で町はロックダウンされ、息苦しい隔離生活の中、住⺠たちの不満と不安は爆発寸前。保安官ジョー(ホアキン・フェニックス)は、IT企業誘致で町を“救おう”とする野心家の市⻑テッド(ペドロ・パスカル)と“マスクをするしない”の小競り合いから対立し「俺が市⻑になる!」と突如、市⻑選に立候補する。ジョーとテッドの諍いの火は周囲に広がっていき、SNSはフェイクニュースと憎悪で大炎上。同じ頃、ジョーの妻ルイーズ(エマ・ストーン)は、カルト集団の教祖ヴァーノン(オースティン・バトラー)の扇動動画に心を奪われ、陰謀論にハマっていく。
この度解禁されたのは、アリ・アスター監督と豪華キャスト陣が本作について語るメイキング&インタビュー映像。
ホアキン・フェニックス、ペドロ・パスカル、エマ・ストーン、オースティン・バトラーら超豪華キャストが、本作について「度肝を抜かれた」「抜け出せなくなる」「一瞬即発だ」「危険な作品」と普通ではないコメントを語る。そしてアリ・アスター監督は出身地であるニューメキシコを舞台に映画を撮影した理由や、豪華キャストが演じるキャラクターたちの関係性について語っている。
本年度のカンヌ国際映画祭でコンペティション部門に招待され世界中で話題沸騰の本作。
主演を務めるのは『ジョーカー』でアカデミー賞R主演男優賞を受賞したホアキン・フェニックス、前作『ボーはおそれている』に続くアリ・アスターとのタッグとなる。共演は今夏全世界で大ヒットした『ファンタスティック4:ファースト・ステップ』で話題を呼び、A24史上NO.3の大ヒットを記録したロマンティック・コメディ『Materialists』などで人気急上昇中のペドロ・パスカルや、『ラ・ラ・ランド』『哀れなるものたち』でアカデミー賞主演女優賞を受賞したエマ・ストーンのほか、『エルヴィス』でゴールデングローブ賞主演男優賞(ドラマ部門)を受賞したオースティ。さらにゴールデングローブ賞受賞の大ヒットドラマ「イエローストーン」シリーズの、トニー賞受賞のディ、『ブルー・ストーリー』で英国アカデミー賞EEライジング・スター賞受賞のら実力派が揃い、アリ・アスター作品史上最も豪華なアンサンブルが実現！

Addington is a story about a small town in New Mexico. This is the summer of 2020. Co is in cool effect. But you know Ari’s version reading the script I was like you son of a [ __ ] The guy that put me through Hereditary and Midsummer I was in heaven. It was one of those experiences I knew I wanted to be a part of it immediately. I think he’s the greatest director of our generation. love his writing so much and Ari has a deep talent for turning things on their head. He’s the funniest guy you know makes adjustments spontaneously on set. So I just was like why I just want to keep working with him and then Pedro showed up and there was like this whole new energy. They’re your streets sheriff. They’re your streets to keep safe. And where is your man? We is the sheriff. I’m the current mayor and I’m running for reelection. We’re watching these two men compete exacerbated by lockdown. I wanted to make a really good film about the Southwest. I’m from New Mexico. My family still lives there. The Western is a very interesting genre to me. It’s very much about the heroic myth of America, but it’s also contending with the ugly truth of America. Every character is living in a different reality, and they all distrust each other completely. The powder cap just explodes into something that’s so surprising. People are going to be looking here now. It’s one of those that you don’t want to escape. You want to allow it to grip you and take you on a roller coaster. It really will. It felt dangerous to me in all the right ways. People want to go into the theater and see in its full glory. It is one of the most fun things I’ve shot. Six feet. How did we get here? Well, I’m learning from there. You’re the one that doesn’t want it. I am a much better human being than you. People are going to be looking here now. Your pain is not a coincidence. What the heck is going on here? We need to free each other’s hearts.
