Sadly, the Alaska Arctic Adventure (of 2021) had come to an end and it was time to head back down to the Lower 48 with a flight aboard American Airlines’ B787-9 Dreamliner to Chicago from Anchorage. Due to my status with AA, I was able to upgrade to Main Cabin Extra and got extremely lucky due to extenuating circumstances with a whole row for myself, really letting me have an excellent red-eye experience on the 5 1/2 ride. Sure it always can be better and maybe a business class seat would’ve allowed me some additional real sleep, but I can’t complain, especially with all the passengers moving over to our plane from the cancelled DFW flight. This video probably shows American when things go perfectly right for once. Hope you guys enjoy!

I flew the 787 for the first time last year to Chicago on Premium Economy. It was the 8. Such a nice and comfortable aircraft but the 767 will still be my favorite wide-body!
How did you like Barrow?
I love your videos, aside from your seizure inducing intro
Let me guess, your last flight was on a Bombardier CRJ100/200?!?
Ever since you changed your video format to the voiceover etc. These videos are honestly really good. Great work my guy!
Definitely agree that AA should add IFE screens to more aircraft, especially the new A321neos. Got stuck in a middle seat on one earlier this year from PHX to DCA and would have literally died of boredom without the wifi lol.
Cool … just dealt with LAS and the shut down this morning sheesh
I did the 787 internationally around the same time last year (8/1/21) from GYE to MIA – also a red eye. It honestly was about the same as experience as your trip, except the FAs ghosted us after the drink service. At the time, they weren't serving food on shorter routes (this one being only 4). It was my 1st trip on a 787, so I enjoyed it. However any longer than 4 hours with no service would have been a bit tougher. Good video!
A very nice report, really liked it. What´s the name of the song played at ORD approach? It´s awesome
lucky, the flight from DFW-ANC is a a321neo, and AA’s cost cutting cabin kinda sucks. i would fly on a 787 instead of a American Airlines a321neo any day.
Fantastic trip report Chris!😸
2021 was a mess with air travel with cancelled flights etc. with everything reopening back up again
At least you were on a widebody for a red eye
Why are you wearing a ridiculous-looking face diaper?
Next flight up will be from Chicago to Pittsburgh on a Skywest CRJ-700
Anchorage needs to expand their terminals because of the widebodies coming into their airport
Travelling Travis is crazy!!! I am not a pedophile and I have never had sex with anyone before
The premium economy is like narrow body first class
Hopefully the last time I will say this rip The American Way Magazine
I hate how the FAs sometimes lock the windows on the Boeing 787s
Some transatlantic and transpacific flights are like that too night flights but bright 100% of the time. I have seen flights from Fairbanks to Minneapolis and Anchorage to Minneapolis same thing flight never gets dark in the summertime
I can’t believe United sends 737s on this flight & most of their Alaska routes
It felt weird once Chris was in Pittsburgh when he finally saw darkness for the first time in 6 days
Lots of wildfires in 2021 meaning poor scenery and hazy skies
K15 your deplanement gate darn, I wish you deplaned from the Home Alone 2 Movie Gate K13 where Kevin McCallister boards the wrong flight to New York Kennedy instead of Miami
Summer 2021 short staffed and long lines at airport restaurants of people waiting to order food at Chicago Midway took like 15-20 minutes just to order
Great place for drinks.
I flew it from DFW to Philly, and from Mia to DFW , I CAN NOT DO , economy it’s was to tight back there ! 🤣🤣🤣 , but love the plane ✈️, definitely a smoothy ride
Love the wide body planes
Best channel ever!
What kind of carry on luggage do you use?
Great video presentation, Chris! Keep up the good work!
I look forward to your next video, with excitement 🤣
I like the video so much its very good
I actually like using my own device. That way I can use my bluetooth headset and I don't need to worry about the screen not working.
Ive never been to Alaska.Good job
The best thing about approaching into Chicago is the 180 over Lake Michigan then seeing downtown Chicago at your window.
you did not do the flight to jamaica and vlog for 10k likes and 1mil viwes i am telling you it will work
9:42 – just south of Kluane National Park and Reserve, somewhere near Mt Vancouver, around the border of Yukon and southeastern Alaska
9:56 – the mountains just west of Takhini Peak in northern British Columbia
10:22 – the Halfway River in eastern British Columbia
10:56 – (as shown) just north of Edmonton, Alberta
And then he slept until Appleton, Wisconsin
My experience on the 787 international is limited. In 2005, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2018 and 2019 we flew from OKC to either Paris, London, Dublin or Shannon with most of the flights so bad I swore I would never do it again. Except the one trip we flew on a 787. I recall thinking this is nice, I can do this every year. We were deep in economy but it was great. Last November were were scheduled into Paris and out of Munich via 787s in Business class. I scored a pair of seats for less than half the points needed today. Weeks before our trip, AA dropped the DFW to CDG route and no longer served Munich. We ended up in business from JFK to CDG on a 777-200 and London to DFW in business on a 777-300. I really enjoyed BC, so did my wife. I had enough points to get us back to Paris this September and back from Dublin. We will be in main cabin extra, as she has status that allows us to pick at time of booking, on a 787-8 and 787-9. We play the odds of picking the isle and window and leaving the center open. So far, both flights look good. I hope that AA does not cancel this route again and dump us on another flight. It will be interesting to see if we can handle the coach seats after flying business.
Nice video..
What are your thoughts on being dead center over the wing? It's a huge wing..personally feels claustrophobic to me..so it's wierd the premium seats have the worst view? Safe travels
