「死霊館」ユニバースの創始者：ジェームズ・ワン『死霊館 最後の儀式』インタビュー映像【2025年10月17日公開】
世界累計興行収入3000億円を突破し、ホラー映画の金字塔として確固たる地位を築いた「死霊館」ユニバース。その第9作にして最終章となる『死霊館 最後の儀式』が、10月17日より日本で公開される。
9月5日に全米で封切られると、公開3日間で興収8300万ドル（約123億円）、全世界で1億8700万ドル（約275億円）を記録。全米初登場1位を獲得し、ユニバース史上最高のオープニング成績を樹立した。2025年公開のホラー映画としてNo.1の記録であり、『IT／イット “それ”が見えたら、終わり。』に次ぐ歴代ホラー映画オープニング興収第1位に輝いた。55の国と地域でも1位スタートを切り、世界的なメガヒットとなっている（※Box Office Mojo調べ、1ドル＝147円換算、9月8日現在）。
海外メディアからは「シリーズ最高の映像美」「悪魔は細部に宿る」「恐怖だけでなく深い感情にも訴えるクライマックス」と絶賛の声が続出。ラージフォーマット上映も好調で、日本でもIMAX、4D、SCREENX、Dolby Cinemaでの上映が決定している。
本シリーズを生み出したジェームズ・ワン（『アクアマン』『ワイルド・スピード SKY MISSION』）は、本作でプロデューサーを務める。
解禁されたインタビュー映像では「シリーズ1作目の『死霊館』は、手がけた作品の中でも特に思い入れがある。望んでいた道へ進むきっかけを作ってくれた作品だ」と振り返り、「ウォーレン夫妻の物語を映画化できて本当にうれしく思う。いよいよここまで来た。長年愛されてきたシリーズも“最後の儀式”でついに完結する」と語る。
さらに「昔からホラー映画はみんなで楽しむものだった。だから本作もぜひ映画館で観てもらいたい。暗闇の中で大勢のホラーファンと一緒に、最高の音響と大スクリーンで恐怖を体験してほしい。これで最後！『死霊館』ユニバースの集大成だからね」と、劇場鑑賞の重要性を強調した。
シリーズの中心を担ってきたウォーレン夫妻を演じたベラ・ファーミガ（ロレイン役）とパトリック・ウィルソン（エド役）について、「スクリーン上でも現場でも素晴らしい関係で、本当に仲が良い。それは作品を通して伝わっていて、観客もキャラクターをよりリアルに感じていると思う。それこそがファンがこの映画を愛する大きな理由の一つ」と述べ、深い信頼を寄せた。
「私にとって『死霊館 最後の儀式』は、一つの時代の終わりであり、それゆえに少しほろ苦い気持ちもある」と心境を吐露。「ベラとパトリック、そしてキャストやスタッフと共にまるで家族のような一体感があった。このシリーズに携わった時間は本当に楽しかった。だが、すべての良いものに終わりはある。今が完結にふさわしいタイミングだと思う」と語った。
「死霊館」シリーズは、実在した心霊研究家ウォーレン夫妻が体験した、人知を超えた戦慄の怪奇事件（実話）をもとにした映画シリーズ。『死霊館』（2013年）、『死霊館 エンフィールド事件』（2016年）、『死霊館 悪魔のせいなら、無罪。』（2021年）に、本作が続く。劇中に登場する実在する呪われたアナベル人形が巻き起こす恐怖を描いた「アナベル」シリーズや、『死霊館 エンフィールド事件』に登場する悪魔のシスター“ヴァラク”のルーツに迫る前日譚「死霊館のシスター」シリーズといったスピンオフも生み出し、世界中のホラーファンを虜にしてきた。

I will always look back at the first conjuring with probably the fondest memories I will ever have in terms of my film making career. Um, it’s definitely the movie that really set me on the trajectory that I’ve always wanted to be in and uh and I have a lot to be thankful for this franchise and and for this world for the for the story of the Warren and what we’ve created with the cinematic version of all of this. Um so here we are finally um about to close a very big chapter in uh in all of our lives with the last rights. One of the things that we realize with each subsequent Conjuring films that we make is that, you know, why people keep coming back to the Conjuring movies is because they love Patrick Wilson and Verifa and and their depiction of Ann and Lorraine Warren and just the family dynamic that they have and uh and so naturally um their daughter Judy would play into this story in a big big way. Horror movies have always been in incredible communal experience and uh and definitely it’s the same with the Conjuring films. You know, you want to go into the theater to experience it in a dark room with, you know, with lots of other sort of people that love this world and uh and enjoy it. The scares place so much better. The the sound system, the big screen visuals, you know, we really made this for the big screen and we wanted people to be able to see this on the biggest screen they can and experience this. this this this final moment. And so I think they’ll be doing themselves a disservice if they don’t see this on the biggest screen with the best sound system because we really want to go out with a bang. Let’s take this back to the beginning. When did it start? April the 29th, 1985. We’re in the kitchen and the ceiling light came crashing down. We’re now entering the national bedroom where a good deal of the phenomenon has occurred. One night I was sitting in bed and it felt like someone touched me on the shoulder. I turned around and looked and I couldn’t move. This is an evil like nothing we faced before. [Music] Just going to pretend like nothing’s going on. It’s real. It wants to kill us. I’m sorry. I thought that these type things only happen in movies.
