Here is my ranking of every, you guessed it, liveaction Superman movie with a few fun ones thrown into the mix. In Dead Last, shocking absolutely nobody is Superman 4: The Quest for Peace. I don’t even really feel the need to explain myself with this one. Following that up is the movie that precedes that one, Superman 3. It’s a bit better, but I mean, the casting of Richard Prior, the cheap looking everything, it’s just not very good. We’ll follow those two up with the degrading slot that is Justice League 2017. Now, this one is where things start to get a little bit more fun and interesting because I do think there are a lot of great ideas in Superman Returns, but the execution was all over the place. And in the end, it’s an overlong, very dull and drab movie. Even though, again, I also think that Brandon Ralph was really well cast. We’ll follow that up with a potentially controversial one, the Richard Donner cut. The only reason this one ends up so low is because it’s not a fully realized vision. If Donner had his way from the very beginning, I think we’d be singing a different tune and quite possibly have had maybe the best movie of Reeves run as Superman. But in the state that we have it today where he didn’t get to see it all the way through, I can’t put it much higher than this. Next up is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Ultimate Edition, because that’s the only version of the movie that I’ll watch. I think the theatrical version is a huge disappointment, but the Ultimate Edition I actually like quite a bit. I’m not going to lie. The plot is still way too convoluted for its own good, but the actual Batman v Superman stuff and everything surrounding it, the performances and all that jazz, I adore. And then, of course, we have the original, which is pretty much universally beloved. Yes, it does show its age in some places, and I don’t have a ton of nostalgia for it because I was more of a Batman kid growing up, but come on, it’s a classic. Just above it, though, in my books at least, is the original Superman 2, even though this edit says the Richard Donner cut. Ignore that. This is the theatrically better known, widely released version of the movie, which I think is pretty much on par with the original, but I like it slightly better because it has less annoying characters in it. And I think the action, especially in that third act, is a bit better. Probably controversial, but I freaking love Zack Snider’s Justice League. The first night it came out, my brother, my best friend, and I sat down, sat through all four hours, and both of us were like, “Yeah, that’s a 10 out of 10 movie, and I still stand by that. I love what Snyder did with this final film in his DC run.” The runner up is going to be Superman 2025, aka James Gun Superman. I love so much about this movie. It restored my faith in the character. It’s fun. It’s whimsical. It’s meant for everyone. It’s just a rough first 20 to 30 minutes. And some things could have used a bit more breathing room.

Great video as literally always man!!!! When I first saw bvs i thought it was extremely mediocre until years later i saw the ultimate edition and loved it. They need to stop hacking Snyder films in the theatrical run lol
Thank you, i have always viewed the donner cut as just a fan presentation of what he would have done! But out of pure respect for him, I don't like to acknowledge it as a movie because if you remove the backstory and just watch it, it has a lot of issues.
For all the crap Lester fairly gets for the unneeded slpastick he also added some pretty good dramatic moments that people like to ingnore because he directed superman 3. Shame!
