STORY
ママがやって来る！児童養護施設で暮らす11歳の少女ルーのもとに、
離れ離れだった母親のカリーナから突然連絡が入る。
自称ハリウッドスターのカリーナは、再会を喜ぶルーを勝手に施設から連れ出し、
「ポーランドのおばあちゃんのところへ行く」と告げる。
カリーナにはルーとずっと一緒にいるための、ある計画があったのだ。
「人生はゼロか100かよ、お嬢ちゃん」。
ルーは破天荒な言動を見せるカリーナに戸惑いながらも、
母親と一緒にいたいという思いでついていくのだが…。

監督を務めたのは、そのビジュアルセンスと遊び心あふれる作風で注目を集めているオランダの新星、ザラ・ドヴィンガー。
長編デビュー作の本作はベルリン国際映画祭に正式出品、カンヌジュニア映画にも選出され、
本作を鑑賞した映画監督のショーン・ベイカーからも絶賛されるなど、
世界各国から称賛の声が寄せられた。
２人の旅を彩るのはダスティ・スプリングフィールドの「Stay Awhile」や
ペニー・アンド・ザ・クォーターズの「You and Me」など1960～70年代の
印象的なサウンドトラック。アメリカン・ニューシネマへの愛をちりばめた、
どこか懐かしくもまったく新しいロードムービーが誕生した。

i’m going to tell you something about the film now in English this film started with my personal fascination for eccentric parents as a child you don’t always understand that these parents actually might have mental health issues um I wanted to highlight both the positive and the negative side of having such a parent um that’s why I chose to tell such a yeah quite a serious theme in a more playful and light-hearted manner also so that it could be accessible to a younger audience as well it was great to work with the two main actresses fida Barard was a very special actress uh I saw that immediately in our first casting and Rosa Flea was a true thespian despite her young age uh I was looking for a certain kind of chemistry between the two and in their first audition together I immediately saw that between them because Karina who is more like a child herself she treats Lou quite uh seriously really as an equal um this is something that’s very funny to me and it’s very sad as well um in rehearsals we really worked on their connection together uh getting to know each other making jokes together and exploring their relationship uh as a mother and daughter further uh I very much enjoyed working with them on that it was a lot of fun uh and it was especially endearing to see that their connection grew even more during filming where I really saw that they started to love each other more and more in real life um it would be great to share this mother and daughter on the run uh story with a Japanese audience and I hope both Japanese kids as adults will be able to get lost into the cool world of Lu and Karina i hope you enjoy the film thank you for your attention to go
