Double elimination brackets are so 2024, now we’re doing REAPER brackets. The Reaper Invitational took place in New York City not too long ago, experimenting with a scientifically-backed up tournament format that’s never been done before in Smash Ultimate, with top players such as Tweek, Light, Glutonny, and Cosmos invited. Let’s see how this new type of tournament worked, and how we were able to see one player win the whole thing without barely touching the controller.

I think the format is actually kind of cool. I don't fully understand it but the idea that one player in loser's get the ability to straight eliminate people is cool. Kind of gives aura back to someone even if they fell to losers, makes their opponent feel pressed.

As someone who also does martial arts stuff I agree with the point that sometimes "breaking the rules" is a good thing to do if you understand "the rules." It's a thing that happens in a lot of skill based things. Where the advanced option is to do the "wrong thing" but on purpose.
