On February 11, 2026 (U.S. Eastern Time), TIME magazine announced its \u201cTIME100 Most Influential People in Health 2026,\u201d<\/a> and Professor TAKEBE Takanori<\/a>, Deputy Director of the Premium Research Institute for Human Metaverse Medicine (WPI-PRIMe), the University of Osaka (Professor, Genome Biology [Stem Cell and Organoid Medicine], Graduate School of Medicine), was selected for the list.<\/p>\n

The \u201cTIME100 Most Influential People in Health\u201d honors leaders, innovators, and pioneers who have transformed\u2014or are transforming\u2014the future of global health and medicine for the better. Professor Takebe and his research group were recognized for their series of pioneering research achievements addressing end-stage organ failure. In particular, their Phase I first-in-human clinical trial report, published in Med in October 2025, received significant acclaim. The study verified the safety of an enteral ventilation method\u2014described as \u201cbreathing through the digestive tract.\u201d<\/p>\n

The success of this trial represents a major breakthrough in advancing a medical concept\u2014previously limited to the animal testing stage\u2014toward clinical application in humans.
