10 things you probably donโ€™t know about this famous blue Nivea cream

1. Nivea cream was introduced in 1911 by pharmacist Paul Carl Beiersdorf and it was formulated with patent application of Lanolin

2. This cream was also the first stable water in oil emulsion. Thatโ€™s why Nivea feels so moisturising on skin.

3. Initially Nivea cream came in pale yellow container. In 1925 Nivea changed its packaging to blue tin with a white logo

4. Nivea has two versions: one is German and another is American/Mexican. Formulations are almost same just 1-2 ingredients are different. They have different preservatives.

5. Nivea has high amount of mineral oil and petrolatum which make it an extremely effective occlusive. So if you have dehydrated skin then itโ€™s gonna help you. It did not suit my face but works really well for my body. It has extremely rich butter like texture.

6. Lanolin is Niveaโ€™s star ingredient to nourish the skin

7. It also has panthenol and glycerin to hydrate and soothe the skin.

8. Nivea has been called a dupe for La mer which costs more than 2 lakhs for 500ml. Some of the ingredients look identical but itโ€™s very difficult to dupe a skincare because if you change even one ingredient or percentage then entire thing can turn out to be different. Plus I think La Mer has outrageous price and itโ€™s expensive for being expensive sake ๐Ÿ˜“ so I really donโ€™t care much about the dupe thing.

9. My father has been using Nivea for past 20 years and he does not use any other cream on his face except this. He is 61 now and has good skin.

10. But when I applied Nivea on my face, I got breakouts most of the times but it does make amazing overnight lip mask and hand cream for me. I also use it as neck cream. I quite like it this way because itโ€™s really effective at keeping skin moisturised.

  2. Nivea cream is the most horrible one I have ever used. It made my skin darker than my actual skin tone. My Dermat told me it is for thick-skinned people and it shouldn't be used on the face since it has very high chemicals. Plus the biggest advice given by my dermatologist is to never believe what you watch online especially on these influencers'feeds. Stay safe.

  3. Oily skin people are so unlucky, like no๐Ÿ˜… "cheap but effective" moisturizers generally suit us. Most of the time they are creme based.

  4. This cream is very good…but only for body not for face ….it is very thick and oily it may ruin your face …but extremely good for body use only (atleast for me)

  5. Guys dont fall in trap, its absolute trash!! I've like 3 boxed of these unused at house….nowdays I'm putting them on my feets ,just so that i don't feel guilty of wasting of money on them…
