You can use any soap to do this. I usually use a cake of Ivory or whatever worn-down bits of soap from the bathroom. There's another YouTube up of an old TV commercial for Ivory soap for washing dishes. But if you're at all concerned about "extra steps", when why are you dropping the dishcloth into the filled sink between dishes? You wouldn't have to soap it as often if you put it on the counter between washing one item and the next. You don't drop the soaped washcloth in the bathtub between washing one part of your body and another, or one child and another, do you?

I have hard water also and the bar soap drive me crazy. Try the Dr. Bronner Sal Suds, yes it's in a plastic bottle, but 1 bottle will last a year and I use for dishes, all cleaning (mirrors, floor, bathroom, toilet, basically everything that can be cleaned AND laundry!

It’s a wonderful soap. I use the liquid. I find that’s it makes my pots and utensils shine

Hello thank you for sharing with Dr bronner's Soap bar. I also want to stop buying so much bottle of dish soap that is mostly water. I wanted to to try Dr Bronner's bar soaps but the price is still alot. So for the first time I used Zote soap white to wash my dishes with hot water. It works great washing my dishing and wipe down the counters with a rag and than I had idea hand washing my rags and drying them on my kitchen chair to dry and reused again! lol I might put them in the machine some day. Lol also Zote soap is really cheap and eco friendly! Happy to know that!
