In this video, Dr. Berg talks about how to slow down premature graying or losing hair color. Melanocytes are the cells that make the pigment called melanin.

The melanogenic clock is a clock that involves the aging process and as you get older you lose the color of your hair and it turns gray.

Several Things that are involved with Prematurely Graying Hair:
1. Tyrosinase – is an enzyme that has copper in it. It is needed to make melanin and you can also get this enzyme from mushrooms and copper-containing foods like oysters.
2. Adrenals – When the adrenals are stressed, you start generating excessive amounts of hydrogen peroxide. Vitamin E will help decrease excessive amounts of hydrogen peroxide in the body.
3. Deficient in PABA / Biotin / Inositol (B vitamins) – It is the microbiome (gut flora) that helps produce and recycle these.

Health Benefits of Vitamin E
• Anti-Sterility (Increases fertility)
• Hot Flashes
• Helps reduce the intensity of spider veins.
• Premature Wrinkles – it improves the skin.

The pituitary is the storage for a lot of your vitamin E, so when you go into menopause and you lose the function of the ovary, the vitamin E drops significantly. Women that are pre-menopausal or menopausal have much lower vitamin E levels than they did before that change.

If you are menopausal, make sure you eat a lot of leafy greens, seeds/nuts, and wheat germ oil, or take a vitamin E complex but make sure that it is not the synthetic version.

  1. I'm 37 and half of my hair are already white. Can it be reversed?

  2. Lmao every time you say ok I laugh I’m sorry 😂😂😂😂

  3. You forgot Intermitente fasting does the same I have the photos to prove in just 2.5 months. Also keto did made my white hair worse and I had lost hair and hair did not grow. Back on carbs and intermittent fasting and hair grow back and blacks grow back.

  4. Ergothioneine? Supposedly mushrooms contain the most ergothioneine per gram. Also ergothioneine is supposedly as powerful of an antioxidant as Glutathione an breaks down more slowly.

  5. Hi Dr Berg thank you so much for this informative video. I started on a medication called spironolactone a couple months ago and since starting it my gray hairs have spread it like wildfire. I have been doing a lot of research online and I haven't quite felt my answer but I believe the spironolactone is causing certain hormones to increase affecting melanin in my hair…… I do know that vitamin D is actually a hormone. Do I need to increase my vitamin d? Even though premature gray hair is not a side effect listed for spironolactone I can confirm that it is definitely a side effect.

  6. Nothing turns my hair gray after coloring faster than eating sugar (even from fruit). Want to extend your hair color after dying it? Don't eat sugar. Not easy, but so good for your health in so many ways & your skin will also look younger.

  7. Will taking a zinc supplement lead to a copper deficency which in turn causes graying of the hair. Many of us have experienced graying during the pandemic. Is there a correlation.

  8. Is there any relation between, bloating, constipation, weak adrenal, graying of hairs and dark circles?
Cause i have all of them…

  9. I had a laboratory test done on my hair. Severe vitamin B 12 deficiency. Years of vegetarian. 😓 Now I eat beef chicken turkey occasionally lamb. My hair is much thicker, working on the color white skin spots too same thing.

  10. I got a lot of grey hairs after my board exams , lot of stress you know. By then couple of year later i started supplementing on multivits like vit A C zinc and probiotic. And almost into that year turned all my hair to black had only one white hair.. stress takes a toll on your body.

  11. You are awesome. My mum is bothering me about fixing her grey hair, and I just told her, take care of your inner world first, worry about your external appearance when your inner landscape is at the top of it's game. She's prone to stressing herself out over the smallest and most mundane things.

  12. my hair is solid black, but I found a single white hair…not gret but white.

    is this normal?

  13. I'm almost 44 and have lots of gray! I am trying to fix my gut, years on a sugar diets has messed me up. The gray doesn't bother me, I just want to feel better.

  14. Can someone suggest
    If children's hair turning white
means they are 12-15 years old
What could be the reason and which test I should get done to start the supplements

  15. My dad had dark brown hair until he had a super-stressful near-death experience at 60. I didn't even recognize him afterwards; he was 100% gray.

  16. I just discovered that I have some gray hairs, they are in middle of head not on forehead, surprisingly and Im not okay now, Im now in battle mode because as a stubborn person I will never accept this. I still have nice looking dark brown hair and I dont want my hair to be replaced by gray hair. Idk what will happen, im just sure im going to fight with this problem. I'm very angry at medicine because they haven't found a solution yet. Oh god, help me please. 😌

  17. Is there someone on your team that can help me with a meal and supplement plan?

  18. Stress is NOT the culprit for me.
I just turned 31 and saw 4-6 gray hairs today all at once.
It has to be what I'm consuming (or not consuming).

    THANK YOU

  19. I’m a redhead and from what I hear we eventually go white not gray. Mine is fading to like a light brown or dirty blonde tho. Would have lived this years ago when I was teased relentlessly but now I just want my vibrant ginger/copper back 🙁

  20. So if these changes address the root cause for my grays, can those hairs become dark again? Or would it have to regrow dark?
