When it comes to drugstore makeup vs. brand name makeup, there are some pretty interesting things to learn. Did you ever wonder how many of your favorite brands are owned by huge companies? And these parent companies actually own cheaper brands as well as prestige names. For example, L’Oréal owns Lancôme and Urban Decay in its Luxe Division, but it also owns Maybelline in its Consumer Products Division. You’ll often find that Maybelline makeup is a pretty good duplicate for more expensive options.

  1. Sorry, but about mascara… yeees there is a HUGE difference between chanel and maybelline… unfortunately, money makes difference

  2. You have to do your research with drugstore products. Look at the brands that are of good quality. Not all drugstore products are created equal. You'll have better luck if you buy a brand that is known to be good. If you buy an eyeshadow palette from a brand that has palettes that aren't good, then of course you won't get a good product. It all comes down to research. Tati is a good Youtuber to watch because she's done many videos on drugstore products that work and those that don't.

  3. Mascara? They have different texture, some stays well some falls down on the face and some don’t wash well. Only list of ingredients is not enough, its chemistry, how much of each and how to mix is important.

  4. What do you mean, you can "even" compare the ingredient list? The ingredient list is key. This is the only place where the manufacturer must tell the truth – everything else is advertising. If it says "gentle" in the name of the product, and you find "alcohol" in the ingredient list, don't buy the stuff.
Always read the back of the package, you can ignore the front.

  5. ELF sucks! So yes high end highlighter is worth it. Elf’s eye shadow has no pigment either! I didn’t even realize Benefit was considered drugstore, though.

  6. I always buy mascara from the drugstore
Other products I will go either way depending on if I hear good things about it

  7. There is not much difference between ingredients and have you notice the prices ? Drugstore brands are expensive especially in Canada.

  8. For just lipstick is enaugh. Or mascara from Charlotte I thinks the best for sensitive eyes. Or not use at all.

  9. The only thing I found really makes a difference, is foundation. With problematic skin, that's something I would not save my money on.

  10. Something not talked about here with the eyeshadow is fallout. Less expensive shadows sometimes tend to have a huge amount of fallout. I’d spend more money on eyeshadow with less fallout that’s for sure.

  11. I don't agree with not splurging on the eye makeup. It's also about the experience and if my shadow is blending quickly and beautifully, my eyeliner is gliding on I'm having a nice and easy time getting ready.

  12. Me, who is prone to acne even putting small amount of foundation/powder have to test different brands that suits to my skin. And to my experience, most products at the drugstores make my skin irritated. So I stick with expensive ones that makes my skin feel okay and safe

  13. WHY DO YOU PUT THE $ ON THE RIGHT? NOWHERE IN THE WORLD IS THE $ PLACED ON THE RIGHT OF THE PRICE!!

ALWAYS PUT THE $ ON THE LEFT!!

    $147; $513.

    $1.00; $5.00; $10.00; $1.01; $5.02; $10.50, ETC

  14. I go for drug store brands like Revlon and NYX when it comes to nail polish (Chanel nail polish just su@ks), NYX concealers and highlighters are wonderful. Only skin care is sometimes better to splurge $$ on, Capture by Dior, for instance. Don't use eye shadow so I would not know.

  15. I prefer high end foundation, concealer, blush eyeshadow and highlighter. Mascara, eyeliner and lipgloss/lipstick from the drugstore works for me.

  16. I have a drugstore palette and my eyes used to look like that, but ever since I started using eye primer I've been fine.

  17. Try Maybelline's COLOSSAL mascara (around $8). It separates and lengthens absolutely effortlessly. It is by far better than any $$$ mascara I've ever tried

  18. Colorpop eyeshadows are affordable and yet amazing! I would definately recommend the brand.

  19. My splurge is Jeffree Star and my drug store is Fit Me foundation and elf and NYX setting spray
