   ⚡️On Sunday ended the first ever Russian Grand Prix in figure skating. Now you can sum up the results of the tour along the route Moscow – Sochi – Kazan – Moscow – Samara – Perm with hit parades of heroes, disappointments and discoveries of the past six weeks. Today – about those who played the main positive roles in this series.

   One can only imagine how hard it was for this figure skater to return to the ice after the Beijing drama. You are 16 years old, you are growing up, you have your whole life ahead of you, and there are plenty of opportunities on this planet to make this life no longer in contact with physical torture, mental pain and hatred. Why continue this fight, go through the hype and hate, knowing that somewhere far away, a sentence is ripening for those who want to pillory you for something that cannot be your fault by default, but somewhere here, close, Is the pipeline already ready to bring new potential champions to the surface, ready to overwhelm you with a wave of quadruple jumps that you, with your changed body, will probably never submit to?

   But no, Valieva chooses the most difficult path. She doesn’t just go into battle, but also sets herself a free program on the most scandalous topic of the current sports year, so that everyone can see – she is not afraid of this topic. That young Valieva remained under the hood, who was broken by circumstances in Olympic Beijing, and here and now the champion is on the ice, ready to face the challenge.

   Valieva never made an ultra-c either at the first stage of the series in Moscow or at the third in Kazan. Although the quad toe loop was ready, which everyone could see at the warm-up, the rolling adrenaline played a cruel joke on the skater. In response, she herself decided to joke – twice on her native Kazan ice after the rental, but before grading, she tried to take revenge on this very toe loop and still conquer it. But not everyone understood the humor, and toe loop did not give up.

   Nevertheless, Camila has two victories as a result of two stages. From the point of view of the jump set, no one argues – this is not yet the level of a world record holder, but figure skating is not the only ultra-si. Unique artistic abilities allow Valieva to win with the second mark. And, frankly, it’s hard to find fault with the first one – even if there are no quads and triple axels yet, this skater continues to do everything else perfectly.

   She has not been to any of the three Olympics where she could potentially be selected, and she will most likely not be allowed into the fourth. And still, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva continues her career, being a connecting thread between the past, even before Sochi, and this post-Beijing future.

   Some of those with whom she performed at some tournaments are already overboard – they train her current rivals. Tuktamysheva on ice – and enjoys it. And we enjoy the fact that with at least some athlete we can, without fear of breaking any codes, discuss our favorite brands of wine after her victories.

   Refereeing in figure skating is such a thing that someone is always unhappy. Tuktamysheva knows this as well as anyone else: in her career there were enough tournaments in which she was "pushed" for the sake of the current situation. Someone did not like the fact that Elizaveta was higher than Sofia Muravyova in the fourth and sixth stages of the Russian Grand Prix. But the same 0.79 points in Perm is not about "set", but about a stubborn equal fight, in which the fate of the first place was decided by just one or two marks.
   There have been thousands of such scenarios in the history of figure skating.

   And Tuktamysheva – she is so alone. A unique athlete who, at the age of 25, clicks triple axels like nuts and storms the quadruple jump. And looking at which, I would like to hope that her young competitors will plan for themselves not two or three seasons in big-time sports, and then skimming the cream in the show, but a full-fledged career. In the meantime, Tuktamysheva wins her two stages of the Grand Prix and, like Valieva, scores the maximum amount of points, yielding only in additional indicators.

   Russian men's figure skating still cannot boast of champions of the level of Yuzuru Hanyu or Nathan Chen – this is a fact.

   But with each new season, Russian single skaters seem to realize more and more that, as the hero of the film "The Diamond Arm" said, every person is capable of a lot, just not everyone knows what he is capable of. And, at least, they are not afraid to storm new heights. It doesn't always work out. Stability is something that most Russian single skaters, alas, do not currently possess. But when it does, it comes out nice and dramatic.

   Dmitry Aliev was, perhaps, the main disappointment of last season. At the beginning of the selection for the Olympic Games, the current European champion at that time was considered one of the favorites. But he never managed to give out almost a single tournament with two normal skates.

   Only the ninth place in the Russian championship was the collapse of Olympic hopes. And an additional portion of salt on the gaping wound was the failure in the final of the Cup of Russia, where Aliyev could rehabilitate himself at least in front of himself, but even there he managed not to get into the top three.
   But this season, Dmitry, like a phoenix, has risen from the ashes. With two perhaps the best productions in his entire career, Aliyev made a splash already at the test screenings. And then he gave out two dramas at the stages of the Russian Grand Prix in Moscow and Kazan – he gave odds to his rivals in the short program and delivered a crushing blow in the free program. With the maximum amount of points, Aliyev is the leader of the Russian Grand Prix and is currently one of the main contenders for victory in the national championship.

   This skater has suffered two horrific injuries this year: first a concussion after falling at the Evgeni Plushenko show in St. Petersburg in April, then a broken knee at a pre-season training camp in Courchevel. Each of these injuries is one after which, if they return, it is very slow and it is not known in what condition. But Semenenko was eager to fight – and in September he came to the test skates of the national team, although, by and large, he was not yet ready for them. As his coach Alexei Mishin later said, in this way he even aggravated the knee injury.

   But character, perseverance and the desire not to fall out of the cage helped Evgeny recover for the Grand Prix stages. In mid-November in Moscow, he had almost returned to combat form. And uncertainty flew away along with the “butterfly” on the first quadruple jump in the short program.

   More Semenenko did not give in to any element. And even if not everything turned out perfect, it was already a fighter ready for battle.
   At that Moscow stage, the ill-fated "butterfly" in the short and a mistake in the free program left Evgeny with a silver medal. But at the final tournament of the series, Semenenko was already king. Not a single blot for two programs, five clean quadruple jumps – this is a launcher from which you can fly a rocket up.

   If Semenenko skates the same way as in Perm, it will be difficult for anyone to compete with him. The main thing is not to let down health.
