Building a Simple Log House (for Cheap) – Anyone Can Do This!!! (Start to Finish)

I build a hut out of dead standing trees found on my 40 acre property. I thin out the forest to increase the health of all the trees, and make use of the material to build a really cool small hut out of a refurbished satellite dish. I use a bit of re-used tarp to cover the top of the small shelter.

This forest was planted nearly 40 years ago, and no trees were removed, so it’s far too overgrown to be healthy. The best thing to do is remove half the trees and allow sunlight to help the forest recover and allow new trees to seed themselves.

The forest was originally designed to be planted quickly, but then harvested, just nothing happened.

I cut a bunch of trees to build the log cabin by stacking them vertically and make a rounded miniature, tiny house. I will include many features in this inside of this primitive structure like a wood burning stove, sleep space, and a wood floor.

    You did go except you should have put the bottom layer of tin on the inside of the top layer on the inside of the building so if any water gets in between the logs it won't run down inside.if the ton was on the outside that would have worked the way you put it.

    I DON'T GET IT. YOU BUILT THIS REALLY NICE, LITTLE LOG HOUSE AND THEN YOU BRING IN A HUGH BATTERY, TV, TOASTER OVEN AND HOT PLATE. YOU COULD HAVE STAYED HOME FOR ALL THAT! I THOUGHT THE PURPOSE WAS TO GET TOGETHER WITH MOTHER NATURE!

    Can anyone else confirm what I've read about 2 many 🌳 trees???

    I can't remember what elements are released from the trees that when the forest isn't thinned a little…you have what are called California fires.

    And they're blaming it on us, animals and fuel 😪🤦‍♀️😭

    I think I would have cut more trees, screwed them into the other ones where the gaps were and then stuffed the pine needles between those where the over lap would be. Seems it would be better insulated. 💕🙏🙏

    circumference of circle is 3.14 times diameter. 12 foot diameter is 37.68 feet circumference. Area is 3.14 times radius squared so floor area is 113 square feet.

    There are literally hundreds of these government forests in Southern Ontario alone. Most are county forests and the government does nothing to manage them and the public cannot go in to do anything other than hike. It's such a waste of resources. Planted and forgotten and now dead.

    This is the first time i have ever seen a fully round design and it is awesome. I love anything that makes use of scrap and outside the box thought. Reduce reuse repurpose recycle! You blow this out of the water with that waterproof but completely light permeable roofing tarp. It prob also gives you a tiny camouflage effect in the snow. Like a conservatory! I could easily see this recreated as a she-shed or winter greenhouse even in your yard.
    I always dream of having that early seed starter space for the shorter growing season zones or that extra shelves to overwinter the lettuce and green onions garlic and radish. You could even rig up a grow light so easily. Now i am jealous to the bone. Anyway, this was fun. Have a nice day!

    Why are people always so worried about people cutting trees in a forest its not as bad as people think it is and its not like they are cutting an entire forest down

    Love it! Reminds me of a yurt. Love the walls, too. Good job. I have 2 Eco Flows, but not the BIG one like you have. Last winter I used the smaller Ecoflow in my bedroom to run my electric mattress pad and it did just fine. Then I recharged them during the days with my solar panels.
