The secret to not cry when chopping onions, is to have a very sharp knife and cut with a sawing motion (down-forward instead of just up-down). That way you won't crush the onion cells, which releases a gas that irritates the eyes. If there are onion juices on the board after cutting, it means it got crushed (unless it's from all the tears 😄).
I haven't cried in years cutting onions that way.

Your meat loaf and lemon potatoes look amazing. Did you cook the potatoes for a total of 1.5 hrs? You mentioned they would be in for 50 mins but then the meatloaf for 45 mins?
