With James Gunn’s DCU readying a slate of new Superman Movies & Zack Snyder continuing to release images from his DCEU, Coy & Greg REUNITE to give their Man of Steel scene-by-scene commentary, full movie breakdown, reaction, recap, analysis, ending explained & spoiler review!
Greg Alba & Coy Jandreau react to Man of Steel (2013), Zack Snyder’s bold and visually stunning reimagining of Superman and the film that launched the DCEU. With its operatic scale, emotional depth, and jaw-dropping action, Snyder’s take on the Last Son of Krypton remains one of the most discussed superhero films of the modern era.
Henry Cavill (The Witcher, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) stars as Clark Kent / Superman, delivering a grounded, powerful, and heartfelt portrayal of a man torn between two worlds. The film explores Clark’s journey from wandering outsider to hopeful symbol, balancing spectacular sci-fi set pieces with intimate character drama.
The stellar ensemble cast includes: Amy Adams (Arrival, Enchanted) as Lois Lane, the fearless investigative reporter who becomes Clark’s most important ally; Michael Shannon (Take Shelter, The Shape of Water) as General Zod, a menacing Kryptonian warrior determined to reshape Earth into a new Krypton; Russell Crowe (Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind) as Jor-El, Superman’s noble father; Kevin Costner (Field of Dreams, Yellowstone) as Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Inside Out) as Martha Kent, grounding Clark’s humanity; Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix, John Wick) as Perry White, editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet; & MORE!!
Iconic moments include the Krypton prologue, Clark learning to fly, the Smallville battle, the World Engine sequence, and Superman’s devastating final showdown with General Zod. With Hans Zimmer’s soaring score and Snyder’s signature visual style, Man of Steel remains one of the most visually ambitious and emotionally charged superhero origin stories ever made.

Comparatively with Gunns Superman, Man of Steel is a better film all the way around. I believe the way Ma and Pa Kent and Jor el was portrayed is eons better than in gunns superman which are things about Superman character that this film did better. In gunns Superman it was more of a goof or joke aspect. I will say Lois lane and jimmy is pretty much the only thing I think gunns Superman got right and the fact Superman felt more American
Too many nitpicking comments spoiled this
Coy tries soo hard to make people agree with him
Only issue I had was Lois lane. Didn’t like this one at all.
All the people that are so over dramatically upset by this and accusing coy of being a shill or a hater or whatever crap, are quite literally proving his point about the fanbase being so annoying & difficult😂😂😂😂
Defend your own opinions why you like this movie and (to no surprise absolutely hate Gunn's version and very ironically & hypocritically nitpick every single frame of it as if Gunn murdered your mother😂) as if they're all valid & objective, but he gives his opinion and criticism while simultaneously actually complimenting all the aspects he does like, and he's just some annoying fanboy shill hater comic fan who's dramatic and stupid..😂 the double standarda and hypocrisy y'all live by is so beyond pathetic. you losers seriously need to go outside for fucks sake. If it gets you that fucking butthurt, don't watch the fucking reaction 😂 they're just fucking movies it's not that serious
While American culture adopts the Christ story remember the creators of Superman were Canadian 😉
The villain female was in this movie called PANDORUM. Please react to it. It’s free on tubi right now
React to only the brave!!!
Not taking anything away from Gunn. But Man of Steel is just a superior film. You could tell by watching this reaction. Literally look at Greg watching Man of Steel vs Superman 2025. Man of Steel felt epic. Superman 2025 felt like a episode on CW or HBO Max. It didnt feel larger than life. I think all Superman films should feel larger than life like Superman 78
2:09 everything you guys are saying right now about this movie, or exactly what I say about the dark Knight trilogy. Great movies at least two out of three, incredible cultural impact, and I appreciate that it made people take the media seriously. But between studios learning the wrong lessons and trying to make everything dark and gritty when what made it work was the sincerity of playing it straight, and the impact that series had on the public perception of Batman, Joker and Bane, especially I find myself resenting them more than I enjoy them. If I put either of the later two in the trilogy, I’m thoroughly invested, I can’t help but enjoy them, but I’m sick of people thinking Batman is a loner that has to occupy a real world amongst other things, that have kept many of my favorite things about the world of Batman out of the public eye.
Superman 2025 is garbage compared to this
I didn’t like how in this version, the webs came right out of his wrists. He should have invented the fluid!
Misunderstood Masterpiece 💙 I always loved DC comics and Batman movies. This movie though made me fall in love with Superman
MOS rules and is one of the best DC movies ever made. It reignited my admiration and love for Superman.
This movie makes the new one look like a parody of comic book movies. James Gunn sucks!!!
I bet u ain’t expect comments to go like this lol 😂
23:55 Coy, I thought you were a smallville guy, Clark did that petty stuff all the time! At the end of the pilot, he stacked to the entire football team‘s trucks. And that guy would’ve drove drunk so I guess that’s a net positive too. 😂
The comment about why Zodd is trying to make Earth like Krypton and not just living here and artificially breeding, would you want a billion people with powers like Superman?
The Johnathon Kent sacrifice trope was so cringe it was the ridiculously stupid overused Hollywood trope
Disappointed that it was Coy shitting on a film for an hour
That coy dude seems to be watching the movie from a very hateful place
28:44 so her knowing that some random person has powers is an issue but Gunn starting a movie with them already knowing and never once talking about how she had to got multiple issue of comic time to find out is fine? This Coy dude just comes off very biased
I would love you to cover movies you haven't made a reaction for on this channel instead of doing another reaction / commentary to the same movie twice (even if it's different people doing it). For two reasons, number 1: it's not really necessary for you (besides the obvious viewpoint reason), number 2: with all the time and effort spent on this video there are other movies that still had to wait in line (if they even get a reaction at all). If you just do different movies you cover more ground of interest for people to look out for. And there will never be a time where you cannot cover something different on this channel that not all of you have seen, I'll give you an example: "The Bone Collector (1999)"?
As a movie watcher if you are not open minded and stuck an idea than it's ok to not understand and be stuck in the same time zone…….too much commentary…………and average reaction
Masterpiece.
I love this movie, idc what anyone says
23:11 This bar guy sucks for sure. But like, the guy probably didn’t own that truck and now, his whole family is going to suffer. Maybe clark should have just confronted him in the bar.
but we saw them speakign english in krypton…..so i think english doeant belong to earth
Sheesh. I didn't know you guys were going to rewatch this just to nit pick throughout the ENTIRE movie 😒
17:30 it almost seems like a severe case of autism setting in at age 7. It has to be terrifying for a child. They did a great job of showing his powers developing and the issues he faced.
AURAMAN THE MOVIE
I realize it’s the easy thing but there are at least thousands of habitable worlds within their ability to travel. Why not colonize anywhere else? Why not Mars? They don’t seem to know yet how powerful they’d be in the yellow sun. In fact how do those 2 suited up Kryptonians manage at all against a Clark who’s been soaking up the atmosphere and sun for 30 years? Shouldn’t they be FAR weaker in their space suits?
Just want you guys to know you two paired together doing commentary on nerd stuff is probably some of my favorite stuff on this channel so far. Please keep it going guys!
Unlike the children's Superman 2025, which not only has a lot of plot holes, a billion of them, Man of Steel is not a children's film at all.
I think when they say this film is stoic and lacking humanity, I think they need a film to be in chronological order. If Snyder and Nolan had made this film show Clark land on Earth, and all the flashback scenes had been in order leading to young Clark (who was in the truck) telling Martha he was setting out to find himself. And the King Crab boat scene was right after the Tornado scene, then him destroying the Semi and all those things wouldn’t have felt out of character for a young man trying to find himself. Also, it would have build up more humanity in the character Clark when he is Superman, that they say is lacking. My brain works fine with flashbacks, so the disorganized timeline doesn’t take that away for me, but some people only think linear, and that’s okay.
i like how you guys show the movie on the big screen now
Fun fact: In Man of Steel (2013), Henry Cavill refused to use CGI body enhancements — every shot of Superman’s physique came from his real training, including the brutal “shirtless oil rig scene” filmed after weeks of dehydration to achieve maximum definition. 💪🦸♂

These guys like " yeah we're gonna rewatch this and nitpick every frame".
Can you do a jaws one please
After you guys watch all the Zack movies, it would be really cool if you guys could get him on for a small interview!
I know he has been posting a lot about his universe lately, would be a cool conversation to see you guys ask about his world and maybe specific choices!
The "Superman doesn't kill people" thing is something that isn't true. Aside from the fact that he killed Doomsday in "Death of Superman," the early Superman character killed people on occasion (as did early Batman). The "no-kill" rule came later with later writers (and the Comics Code). People like Coy have come to embrace the later version of Superman as the "true" Superman, but that doesn't mean that it is the only interpretation of the character (as he repeatedly asserts during this reaction).
The female sidekick baddy was in a sci fi movie before this called pandorum. It's not great but it's kind of fun and she's good in it
Turn a Super Man movie into a chat about America being colonizers😂 c’mon man..
You argue your own point.
When he is talking to the priest, he is not Superman yet.
The first time the world sees him as Superman is when he hands himself over. That is it in a nutshell.
