GoatMilk Dandelion Cream – High Temperature Hot Process in Crock, by Valerie Mosher – Shalebrook Handcrafted Soap
This is for a 3lb (48 ounces of oils/butters) Batch of soap.
The following applies, 40% (or 38%, but make sure to run through Soap calc for the proper amounts) lye liquid (saved some for after the cook, see below), 7% Super fat, 5% sodium lactate. (although I normally use 38% lye liquid, I wanted this to be quite fluid for the spin swirl)
5% Almond Oil
5% Canola Oil
13% Castor Oil
13% Coconut Oil, 76 deg
8% Kokum Butter
21% Olive Oil
3% Palm Kernel Oil Flakes
11% Palm Oil
3% Sunflower Oil
5% Shea Butter
13% Tallow, Beef
For this particular High Temperature HP – I heated my oils/butters in the crock and when they reached 190F,
I took the crock out of the electric crock pot and added my lye liquid at 195F and added my 4 ounces of hot coconut milk and stick blended to thick about 1-2 minutes, then covered with plastic wrap and crock top, and it volcanoed at 2 minutes, so always, always watch the pot when doing high temperatures. This cooked completely to Vaseline stage in about 8 minutes and then I added my extras (below) except for the honey and EO, then recovered and waited 5 minutes and PH was 10. Then added honey and EO and separated, colored and molded.
I used the following liquids and extras:
2teaspoon Kaolin clay added to hot oils and stick blend well before adding lye
3Tbsp sugar mixed with 2-3 tbsp water, dissolved and added it hot after the cook.
3Tbsp greek yogurt, plain, added cool or room temperature, after the cook
5% Sodium Lactate added room temperature after the cook.
1 Tbsp honey mixed with 1 tbsp water and dissolved and added hot after cook
1ounce of kefir (discounted from the lye liquid) added after cook at room temperature
1.5Tbsp GM powder in 1 ounce of water ( water is discounted from the lye liquid) and mixed well, then added very warm after the cook
Lye liquid was 11 ounces of dandelion tea and 1.25 ounces aloe vera juice and I mixed my lye into this, then I added 4 ounces of coconut milk (sugar free) and added hot to the oils right after the lye mixture and stick blend well to thick trace.
You can cook this formula however you like, either CP or HP, you can use high temperatures or low temperatures , and whatever method you like.
For colors I used spinach powder, orange peel powder and sunflower powder, and zinc oxide.
Scented with essential oils of: 0.5 ounces Palmarosa and 0.05 ounces Patchouli, and 0.05 ounces of Tangerine.
