This episode is squashed full of more orangey goodness; following on from my first test drive in a while https://youtu.be/3a6Vo9lpYr8 I ended up with another list of jobs to work through and it made sense to start with the noisiest problem; a whining bearing. Trouble is there are three spinning things that could be the problem, the crankshaft, the water pump or the alternator…

And today I reveal Ansell as our new PPE Partner for the series – you can find out more them and buy the gloves on this link’ : https://www.amazon.co.uk/stores/page/6CBA2E51-1B15-4E3A-A23E-ADDF8165C99B?channel=Youtube

  1. Top tip Edd, have a chat with Ansell and ask them to send you some 11-101 Hyflex gloves, they are pretty much the same as the 11-840's you have in this video but you can use touchscreen devices like your mobile phone whilst wearing them, super handy!

  2. If ed would reply to my comments i would be so happy. If there is any chance of ed doing a job with ant anstead, that would be orgasmic, sort of

  3. Great sound bites, when you're watching along and think what the sound was going to be and the sound bite was perfectly timed, worked really well while watching along with headphones on!

  4. Funnily enough I have just had my kit car (pinto engine.) into the garage for a horrendous metal on metal percussive noise coming from the engine. It sounded like something was loose in the engine. So sump off, cam cover off, nothing…
It was the water pump. Bum.

  5. Great to see you back Edd! I've been binge watching since I discovered this channel, didn't think I was going to be particularly interested in a motorized orange, but that was a really satisfying watch. Have you got any advice about doing up bolts? e.g how tight do you do them if there isn't a given torque setting?

  6. Where did you get those adjustable magnetic led lights? Or i guess more precisely, where can I get them? 😀

  7. Great show. I only wish that I could get my hands on a mini like yours, I'd settle for an Isetta My question is this,, when you are working on the Outspan Orange I noticed that you were using a 1/2" Snap-On socket. The question is this, is 1/2" the socket size or is the nut and bolts 1/2" as well. This brings up a second question, are the drive(s) on the sockets and the like in metric or imperial? A third question is it true that the minis share the transmission fluid with the cooling lubrication oil system? I literally don't know anyone else to ask. Thanks much. More mini repairs, please.

  8. I'm trying to read the shirt. "I've got 99 problems… but the bit ain't 1." I love it! 😀 — I love the texture on the fibreglass too. — For sound, you can also put a 1/4" extension or big screwdriver against the bones just in front of your ear. I'd be careful there isn't too much vibration for that, mind you.

  9. I like the flats ground into the Milwaukee sockets. I can remember modifying the odd socket like that in the past EG for holding the spindle of a damper with an allen key while undoing a mounting nut that in a recessed cup. I see it also makes a handy flat space for the sizing info

  10. Hello Edd. What should an HomeMechanic to with the dirty Stuff like cooling Water, Oil and so ?

  11. Wouldn't it have been a good idea to flush the complete engine to remove the rotten coolant, instead of only flushing the radiator ?

  12. Edd, I loved you in Wheeler Dealers, you made the show. If I can add some constructive criticism, Please speed up the processes. We know your an Awesome mechanic, but these videos are so slow and tedious.Id really like to see the end product of a rebuild after 2 episodes at least. Ill watch you as I love learning stuff from you, but its getting harder mate.

  13. Really appreciate the description of how to diagnose things using the various forms of stethoscope

  14. maybe add a smile on the front of the orange ? or a dynamic display, smiley / frown options

  15. Alguien dijo:-"Ah, si los motores, hablaran" y si. Si pueden hablar y darnos una pista de lo que está fallando…

  16. Excellent to see you back again. I grew up in the 70's & 80's in a place called Alton in Hampshire and there used to be someone who owned 4 or 5 of the Outspan Orange cars. They were mothballed in a small factory in town then they seem to have been forgotten and disappeared from history. I moved away a few years later and forgot about them till now. I wonder happened to the rest of them? Wondering if anyone knows their fate?

  18. So pleased that you've gone out on your own and got rid of that fat leach …love listening and learning from your informative videos. Thank you.

  19. Edd, you upgraded the alternator but did you check the wiring size? Also the allowed current for the faston type connectors you continued to use. While you have a good battery and not much by way of loads you should have no problems as the alternator will quickly back off from full output but if you get a bad battery (one cell short circuit) then your aternator will put out a continuous 70 A and you could easily get a harness burnout.

  20. hello Edd so glad to see your back on the air doing what you do best. i was really disappointed when things went south with wheeler dealers aka you leaving the show but as they say everything happens for a reason. im just glad your back and i have been binge watching all your episodes lol and i plan on continuing watching. but i digress i see you replaced the alternator to a higher amp alternator on your outspan orange great idea and as you know you added more juice to your orange hahahaha… well g'day mate from here in the states crack on with the great work. time for tea and biscuits cheers

  21. Nice conversation about the gloves. At my office we've got field workers soil research and thea are complaingng about the latex gloves. They ripped apart during heavy duty jobs and they are not comfertable. And Just like yoy said, Ansel has good gloves for that kind of jobs. Especially when you are working with chemicals and bases. And i love yor show.
