In this episode I work with my mate Neil Burgess upgrading the suspension on his 2007 BMW Mini Cooper S rally car. As a former class champion of the British Rally Championship Neil is no stranger to rallying but following years of behind the scenes work in WRC he is keen to get back behind the wheel.

Thanks as always to my production pixies for wrangling the cameras and push-fitting the frames together to make what we like to call; an episode.

  1. Think I would have picked up another subframe, got it blasted and powder coated. That looked pretty bad condition.
Ps roof chopping a Mini is sacrilege!

  2. as a person that owns three modern MINIs, this looks all too familiar. Keep the MINIs on the road fellows.

  3. It’s great to watch a car channel we’re there don’t edit out the issues. Real life.

  4. Curious why you chose to grind instead of sand blast the subframe? It is a matter of available equipment, or is there a different reason for this choice? Thanks.

  5. Now that’s a proper demonstration of how to do a complicated job. Every part shown not just a 2 min clip like wheeler dealers does these days. Brilliant video.

  6. Ed tell me why not get the subframe sandblasted and powder coated ?
Personally for the labour involved I would have probably fitted a new subframe 👍🏻😊

  7. Ed i have huge problem with my mini does not take a turbo air i checked everything and of the end the machanic said you need a new turbo i am afdraid that i will just spent money for nothing

  8. What are your thoughts on using tarmac rally dampers and stiff antiroll bars for a road car? Seeing as they use softer springs in rally than they would in other motorsport, I always thought a good used set of heavy duty tarmac rally dampers would be the ultimate fast road setup.

  9. Another excellent video Edd. It's great to watch the work and listen to a couple of very knowledgeable chaps.

  10. Been loving this series, and was enjoying this one until I saw a major process failure, milk in before bag out? Disgraceful 😁

  11. Love watching these videos, working on cars in this relaxed environment would be a dream. FYI I would of replaced that subframe with a new one especially looking at the condition of it and the labour that’s went into prepping and welding.

  12. Edd I absolutely love what you do and aspire our work ethics to that of yours. However I think you may have read your castor incorrectly to end up with a castor figure of minus 3.3 degrees, that would have been with the wheel seriously hit backwards beyond the angle of the strut. Normally read by turning the wheel in by 20 zero the gauge then out by 20.your assistant turned the wheel left after you zero'd your gauge? We have the same Supertracker setup as you at DNA, we met you at automechanica two years ago and spoke briefly and both are acquainted with Jerry from Supertracker, great guy with unbelievable knowledge.
Keep up the good work 👌

  13. Hey Edd, great to have you producing content again. I've enjoyed following the playlists for each vehicle, however i think they're in the revers order! It'd be great if the playlists started with the first episode chronologically and played through to the latest episode.Cheers.

  14. Having done an absolute shed tonne of the bushes, they come off with with a well placed whack, you also can fit them the same way. Bmw have a specific puller for the job but it's not necessary and can be done faster without.
The subframe doesn't need to come out but does need to be lowered enough.

  15. I have a 2009 model cooper s, it's in repair right now, I would love for you to fix it, from turkey with love

  16. Well done Edd welcome back I only watch episodes of your previous show if your in it

  17. Was I the only one thinking where was the police squad music over the rallying bit?

  18. It's so good to see Edd doing his own thing and focusing on the stuff we all want to see…the car work! Top notch production work too. And thank you for not drowning out Edd's comments with music.

  19. I’m actually glad you went on your own especially with Paul now you can spread your wings and show the Viewers all the things that you love doing Because I think there’s so much more you can show people

  20. Brilliant work! Nice to see some cleaning up and painting! Loving the show Edd keep it up buddy I'm a massive fan.

  21. ¿Por qué no limpian todo con agua a presión antes de empezar a trabajar? Es mas limpia la labor y respiras menos porquería.

  22. Enjoyable to view and informative, I like it……..for goodness sake, don’t stop production and keep things interesting!
