  1. The Dr. Bronner's leaves my hair gummy when washed separately. I have been told it is because of the PH level of it. I have started using Dr. Bronner's Citrus Rinse it seams to help a lot.  I plan on using a homemade Apple Cider vinegar rinse for my next shower. It is an attempt to balance the PH. I also use the soap for cleaning of my house. I have the peppermint and the smell is amazing. Thanks for this review

  2. its quite drying, it does have potassium hydroxide in it. but i wouldnt rule it out. i use it probably once a week on my hair.

  3. I use the Almond Dr. Bronner's daily as a body wash and shampoo. I dilute over half a bottle with water & then the rest with the Castile Soap since so little is needed for a good lather all over. never dries out my hair with the way I dilute it. I feel like I can't be without it now.

  4. This is awesome!!! Ive been CG for 3 years (and off and on since 2011), Originally I started using baking soda (but it wrecked my hair and was SOOO drying because the pH was so crazy high on the baking soda)….Ive been following your videos for a while now, and when you took a break I decided a journey to start eliminating toxins from my home with safer beauty products. I'd be interested in more friendly shampooes and conditioners from EWG.org that are between 1-3 and safe!! I started by making this castille soap shampoo! And now I'm adding in oils to make it less drying and more safe…so cheap, safe, and easy!

  5. I'm wondering if you have continued to use this over the last year and still recommend it? I like products that have multiple uses as I travel a lot and it's nice not to have to pack a million different products, so I'm interested to try it.

  6. I posted on the Dr. Bronner's Facebook page that the last time I used the soap as a shampoo, I couldn't get a comb through my hair (after a week) Dr. Bronner's suggested that I should use either apple cider vinegar or Dr. Bronner's Citrus Hair Rinse after shampooing. I'm going to give it another try.

  7. I think most people call it casteel. If you put coconut milk in it its way more moisturizing but note that coconut milk will only last about 2 weeks tops then it goes bad. So I use a small shampoo bottle so I dont have to use a bunch in a short time. You can also put in grapesead oil or really any kind of oil. Coconut oil may be too thick. Im not sure about that one.

  8. The only way I can use Dr Bronners as a shampoo, is, after rinsing my hair with water, follow with with a rinse of vinegar diluted with water. It was the only way that I could get all the soap out. If I didn't rinse with the diluted vinegar, my hair felt like it had a coating of some kind on it. I also used vinegar in my rinse water if I wash clothes with it. I do recommend anyone interested to give the Dr Bronners a try. You can get it in smaller bottles and it can be used for many other things. Body wash, makeup tools wash, laundry and washing most anything. I have even washed my tub with it. The secret is to use it diluted. Oh. You can even use it as a bubble bath. It bubbles like crazy. lol

  9. I read that with soap you can have problems if you have hard water which builds up. I have just plain natural, vegetable soap(Marseille) to try but would love to find what are the downfals.

  10. I mix this soap with conditioner, and then wash my scalp with it. Rest on the hair just conditioner. It works for me.

  11. My Boys’ use it as shampoo. They have very sensitive skin and can’t use regular shampoo. Their hair so shiny. It left my hair dry but I’ll try again.

  12. I would be very concerned on using Dr. B. for my/others hair, as it has a wax coating & when a person has low porosity, then I would think that this would make it to difficult as your hair needs water etc., but not HARD water… I have been doing the C.G.M. for about 8 months, but I've also came across another Y.T. video & so in hopes to learn more & to know IF I'm doing all the right things for my/others hair, as I've had some really bad days of dryness, extreme frizziness, hair is no longer coarse, but now overly fine hair & I've noticed also more limp hair. But I came across 2 wonderful beautician named Stephanie & Dennis, as it's important to know all sides, wink, smiles… Link is below to 2 very special people & they teach allot on porosity, shampoos, conditioners & so MUCH MORE. 💞🎵🌷🌺 🌸 😆 👏 👍 💫 🌟 💛

  13. I can get that big bottle for $9.99 at Marshalls. They carry a lot of Dr. Bronners products. Only problem is you can only get what ever scent they have in stock and that rotates. Still its a great steal.

  14. I love Dr. Bronners as a shampoo. I mix it with distilled water in a 1:4 ratio and the after rinsing I use ACV and water mixed in a 1:1 ratio. I finish with flaxseed gel.

It's a perfect routine for my waist length 3a hair

  15. Thank you for this video!!!! I basically had the same realisation as you! I’ve only tried it once so far but I’m loving it! Thank you for this CG video 🙏🏼

  16. I have 10 year old dreadlocks and I have just recently brushed out some to “lighten the load”. I’ve been using Dr. Bronner’s on my hair since I started my dread journey. Now that I have some “normal” hair back, I have been doing the Curly Girl Method for my curly/wavy hair. I am so pleased to learn that I don’t have to change my shampoo and have to do two separate ones. Also, as far as clarifying goes after 10 years and brushing out those dreads, there was no mold or much build up at all. So, Dr. B’s is definitely the way to go for that. It also works for household cleaners, laundry soap, and is much better for the environment and our body. Thanks for this video, there isn’t much info on Dr. Bronner’s and the Curly Girl Method.

  17. Castile soap is the only body soap we use. I mix the soap with some baking soda in my hand and rub my armpits and feet. I think I'm going to start using again as a shampoo but this time I'm going to finish with lemon juice and destile water. I prefer lemon to ACV

  18. I like using Dr. Bronners soaps as a clarifying shampoo, face, hand, & body wash & have been using it since I was a kid. But as the bottle says, be sure to DILUTE! And that goes for all their different scent/oil concentrated soaps! I put it in a foaming pump bottle in a 1 to 2 or 1 to 3 dilution & its perfect.

As a hair shampoo, since it does gently clarify (to the point of almost squeaky clean, btw), I feel it's super important (as she says here) to follow it up with a good conditioner (deep or regular rinse-out) & if you have curly hair a good leave-in conditioner, as well. I think this also works super well for people who mostly co-wash, but need a good, *truly effective* but still gentle clarifying shampoo every week, other week, month, etc (whatever is your schedule). It will clarify too much built-up protein or moisture treatments so you can start fresh & don't have protein/moisture imbalances.

I personally use their peppermint and almond soaps for hair, hands, face, & body (though beware the peppermint will OPEN your scalp pores & THOROUGHLY cleanse them, so you may get a little itchy until your scalp gets used to a detoxified state!); & I also use their unscented or "baby" soap for washing fresh fruits & vegetables. I also use the almond & unscented variety to bath my dog.

Their eucalyptus is a good therapeutic cleanser for scalp, too – & would be great for those who need this essential oils for things like dandruff, but this is not necessary for me & just too strong a scent that I care for…. I've also used their citrus as a dish soap & a gentle de-fleaing soap for dogs with a short, smooth coats. I've never tried their lavender or rose water, just because I'm not into using floral scents on my hair or body.

  19. Take HEED To WARNING:

  20. It’s the best shampoo I only use it no conditioner and shampoo without conditioner if it was 10 years ago I’d tell you that would be impossible with my hair
