I have used original Old Spice Aftershave since the 70s. I have tried other brands and I still return to the original Old Spice. I tried some of the new versions of Old Spice and my wife says the are too sweet and not really what she wants her man to smell like. I contacted old spice to see why they did not have their hydrating wash in the original scent and they responded with a friendly, but dismissive, note that they would look into it. I suggested that while there may or may not be a market for products that cater to both men and women using the same scents, the women that my wife and I am around, appreciate that their men smell like men. I will admit that in spite of the strange commercials, I do use one of the Old Spice hydrating body washes. In the dead of winter, when my skin starts to dry and crack, I use this once a day after I have washed with my regular soap. It seems to hydrate my skin, settles any itching from excessively dry skin, and the sweet smell seems to not last more than 30 minutes. As a 65yr old man, I shave nearly everyday and do not often wear colognes but the after shaves and colognes that I have received complements, from ladies, for are Old Spice, Brut, Tru American, and Roam. If I am going to work on my truck or tractor or out on the land or something where I am going to sweat hard, I will often just splash on some Aqua Velva. I still think the commercial is odd. The commercial is on enough that my wife and I have talked about it and my wife and I agreed that we don't know any women who use old spice products.
Stopped buying old spice years ago since they only show one race in their commercials. Disturbing and racist.
