Clean your makeup brushes MUCH faster with this simple, inexpensive and all natural product!
I absolutely LOVE this soap! (And no one paid me to say that!*) 😉
The soap shown in this video works SO well, you don’t need to sit there and scrub each brush separately! Agh! Dream stuff!
The soap shown in this demo is:
Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap (and it IS magic stuff!)
It is organic with no harmful chemicals (bonus!) and has a variety of uses. Highly concentrated so you don’t need much each use, will last a long time, even with weekly use. Completely biodegradable and vegetable-based.
My favorite is Lavendar, but they make a number of scents:
– Peppermint
– Eucalyptus
– Almond
– Rose
– Citrus
– Tea Tree
– Baby Mild

I purchased mine at Target; this size was about $16 if I remember correctly. You can also find it at Walgreens.
*This is not a sponsored video, and even if it were, you can bet your boots my silly butt is going to be honest with you! Ha! 😉

You make it sound like you have hundreds of brushes. lol. I only have 5 brushes and I use Dawn dish soap to clean them.
Thanks for this tutorial. I just got my first bottle today and loved how fast my brushes got clean! I got lavender and it smells great. Great vid!
You named your lashes brand after your cat! So cute.
Wow thank you so much for the tip. I have seen it at Target and Walgreens but didn't know it was magic to wash my brushes. I have the same problem with my foundation brush, it takes for ever to get clean. New subscriber, found you by Melissa (Melphs).
i am a new subscriber I love you u are a true gem I had a question does makeup expire is it worth investing in lots of makeup?
Great video Z! I recently purchased this soap too (lavender scent as well). I'm gonna try it out today. I only have 1 clean brush left lol.
My cat jumps.into the.tub to.drink water
Im definitely going to pick up that soap
Thanks for this! And it's a product I can get in New Zealand (for once!) and won't cost the earth! Double thanks!
Loved this! VERY informative. Question: any chance you might do an eyebrow tutorial? It's tough to find redheaded products to do the eyebrows and I would LOVE to know how you do yours. Thanks : )
I almost always have a big ol' bottle of this soap hanging around, I love it for everything (makes a really great exfoliating sugar scrub with oil & sugar too). Never thought of using it for this!
Oh kool I will do this:-)thanks
Hi Z! I have a question.. I got the soap after watching your video and cleaned my brushes today, it was amazing, but I noticed a very strong smell left on my brushes. Did you notice this too? Am I not rinsing them enough or am I just crazy for noticing the smell?!!! Haha thanks for the tip 🙂
Hey Sabrina, I love your videos so much and want to say Thankyou because without you giving me that kick up the butt to start applying eyeshadow again i would of just given up as i feel im not acheiving the look im wanting no matter how hard i try for my eye type, ive tried finding videos on how to apply eyeshadow to small deep set round shaped eyes but have yet to find any i really like. My dilema is the whole apply a transistion color then crease color without it looking a muddy mess i cant get that beautiful graident look. i do like my transistion shade to be seen and am using wedge by mac. If you can help me in anyway i would be so grateful any advice would be helpful. Im determined to not give up and carry on practising! x
Awesome thanx for sharing!! Cannot wait to get some!!!
I bought this soap the next day and I love it ty for the tip!*
I'm always looking for new ways to save time & money on cleaning my brushes. I don't know if I can get Dr Bronner's product as I'm in Australia but I'm going to try. I've recently bought the brush guards which I love as they keep my brushes in their original shape. I highly recommend them. Thanks for the great tips.
I bought some last week after watching your video, and just cleaned my brushes for the first time using this soap. It is insane how quickly it melted product off the brushes. I used to use Dawn soap before. The brushes actually feel cleaner now. Thank you, as always, for your wonderful and helpful videos!
The Bobbi Brown rep told me to use makeup remover because the soap and hot water causes the glue that holds the bristles in to break down. Your thoughts?
I usually spot clean mine with cinema secret brush cleaner & I ran out I think I will try this its looks cheaper & effective 🙂 thanks for the tips
I finally found this in the makeup / face cleanser section of Walgreens. Thank you thank you! So much easier than what I was doing to clean my brushes. And won't hurt my pipes or septic tank!
I got this at Trader Joe's about 6 months ago and my bottle is still quite full (I also use it for household cleaning, lol). I have the peppermint scent…smells great! I heard the almond one is good too for a bit of moisture for your natural hair brushes because that one has almond oil in it. Now I want to search for a few other scents, lol!
I might be weird but I love cleaning my brushes, I love it when they're new and fresh. Sadly I wish I felt this way about laundry 😉
It works! Thank you SO much. I used to use olive oil and Dawn liquid soap to clean my brushes. It worked, but took so long to complete. This literally took 5 minutes, and since I'm not tugging and pulling on the bristles with this soap, I know my brushes will last longer. Now make more videos so I can learn more tricks PLEASE!!!! 🙂
Thank you so much for this! I did it today and it was so quick. I also dig the lavender smell 🙂
What are you wearing?
Oh god thank you!
I have used this for years – not just to clean my brushes, but as a refill for foaming hand soap bottles. I usually use Peppermint (and btw – this is a whole lot cheaper at Trader Joe's if you have one). Love it!
Hey Z.
Not sure if you mentioned it in the video, but how often do you clean your brushes?
just went out and got this Magic Soap today… Guess who's cleaning her brushes tonight!!
Hey Z,
Don't know where I was when you first broadcast this video. Try his peppermint soap in the shower on a especially hot n humid day. It will cool your body off in an instant! Be warned though, to wash ur private areas last and rinse well because it can be quite illuminating! See ya!
Everyone has been talking about the Sigma glove and I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much money. And then I remembered a while ago I had bought something VERY similar to the Sigma glove for washing my DOG. I had forgotten all about it and it hadn't been used, so I put it to use for cleaning my brushes and it works WONDERFULLY! Best part is it was $5 in the pet department at walmart! Hope this helps someone!
Ive been using Bronners for YEARS..and doing it just like this..lol But Im glad to see others are too!
OMG you blow my mind and changed my world! I tried this yesterday after I watched and holy crap, why didn't I find this video sooner, hahah! Amazing! And the brushes get so clean and smell so pretty. Thank you so much!!! Xoxo
I think this soap very much, but have not had the same experience as you have with washing solely in the sink. What I do is dampen the brushes in the sink. Then I add a couple of drops of Dr. Bronner's into the palm of my hand. I will rub the brush head in my hand for 20 – 30 seconds and they come clean easily. Rinse, squeeze out excess water in a towel, reshape and lay out to dry.
I have to pick up some of this soap !
OMG!! This stuff is amazing.
I love this soap, change lot of my cleaning routine since getting it. I now use it as body wash, pairing it w/apple cider vinegar for hair and my skin & hair had never been better. The best of all it's truly all 'NATURAL'!!!
I love cleaning my brushes with Dr Bronners soap. I have the same one you have and 3 other scents as well. Leaves my brushes smelling so good and squeaky clean.
ok, maybe it's just black cats, by my Dexter (also a black cat) will only drink his water from a running faucet. I've purchased the fancy cat water bubblers, made one of my own, but he still prefers to drink from the fountain.
I have just bought some of this. I remember watching this and a few other videos mentioning this product but I didn't know you could get it here in the UK. I ordered 3 different scents, well 2 scents and the baby one, of the 59ml size just to see which I prefer. I also bought the unscented bar. The bar should be good for brush washing!
I heard abt this product a few months ago but only bought it 2 days ago and I washed my brushes for the first time yesterday. I put some water in a glass, put a few drops of the soap…put my eye brushes in them where it only covers the bottom of the brushes and let them sit for 3 to 4 minutes…took them out and ran them under clean water and the white brushes that were covered in dark shadow were white white like new again. Love love love this product and its my lazy way of cleaning and way better than standing for 20 mts washing my brushes. I just repeated the process for the bigger brushes with a little bit of an extra soap for the foundation and concealer ones and they are as good as new.
That Dr Butler soap isn't cheap saw it at harmon
I wash mine with shampoo and conditioner to keep the bristles soft. I've seen videos where pp only shampoo…curious of what you think.
Great tip. Thanks. I've heard you should not get water past the crimp and barrel of the brush as it tends to loosen the glue. Also I use a silicone hot pad (99cent store)as a cleaning surface. <3
Inky is so cute!!! 🐈😍
Using bronners and a stipple sponge? I am going to try it
For a quick clean I swish them on a Lysol wipe and once a month I wash them with Dial liquid soap .I just heard Wayne Goss say medical grade alcohol and or a stippling bun . So know I have three other ways to try .Thanks 🤗🦋
