I’m sorry about the birds and definitely a hard hit. We had a crazy storm Friday with golf ball sized hail and 60 mph gusts and it took out my greenhouse with about 50 plants in it and broke 2 of my smaller chicken coops. I’ve never seen a storm like that before and I’ve grown up with hurricanes my whole life. Definitely made me feel defeated seeing all the plants I started broken.

If I'm not to late. Cut the tops off of your potatoes and mulch the daylights out of the for this cold spell. It'll keep them from freezing and they'll come back up.
