  1. To be honest I think both comments are biased. If you are from the US or from Japan your opinion will reflect the decisions your country has made and will argue in favor of your country. However, from a perspective that is not related to either country, I believe that there was no reason for nuclear bombs to be dropped. Thousands of people were killed and people are still being born with defects due to the bomb. Yes people did face psychological damage, but they still had the chance to live.

  2. Has UC or anyone else ever held a conference interviewing survivors of the Rape of Nanking(300,000 dead)? Or survivors of retribution for the Doolittle Raid(250,000 dead)? Or any family/friends of the 25 million civilians(mostly Chinese) Japan killed in WWII? Does anyone remember their trauma? I have no problem with UC holding this conf, but it needs to give equal time to the victims of Japan, which is hundreds of times greater than Hiroshima.

  3. Thank you for your mindless cliches-nations have discretion on HOW they conduct war-with some regard for morality or none.

I trust you have no problem with the attack on the Pentagon on 9/11?

  4. Nuclear war is only just beginning in our world. You just wait . World War Two was only the hors d'oeuvres. The real banquet is still being prepared!

  5. Actually most people (like today) didn't want war. It was the government and the military. Innocent people are caught in the middle.

  6. this is so sad. no one should ever go through that. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

  7. she was a little girl. she had nothing to do with killing. they were at the wrong place at the wrong time….poor kids. this kind of killing is wrong! I have difficulty understanding some of these angry comments. This is so sad. Politically, whatever but look, these little children innocent. telling the story. respect please for these people! compassion.

  8. "We need to abolish atomic/nuclear bombs/weapons"

Well, sure they are not great when they are actually used on you, but we didn't bomb Japan when they had nuclear weapons, we had no risk of being bombed back with the same power.

Unlike today, where some country would bomb back with nuclear power if you bombed them, ex, if you bombed North Korea, either they would bomb you back, or one of their allies would do it, effectively starting WW3.

So you can thank nuclear weapons for existing to prevent more wars and more importantly, World Wars.

  9. You all need to remember that this is spoken from an innocent civilian's perspective. They weren't responsible for anything before the bombing

  10. Back then if you were in a 3 mile radius in Japan and you haven't been raised to the ground by bombing. You were on a list of targets to be destroyed,

  11. I don't have any pity whatsoever for anyone who was bombed in the war by American forces, war is war!!!

  12. USA is an asshole in world…. They became powerful just because many states united and became large … cowards …. they are still in a feeling that they are great.. fools

  13. while reading my comment don't you know you have a bomb near at your face either on your pockets. iT's called cellphone 😂

  14. I know I’m probably not going to be popular in saying this but as my man Will Smith said, “don’t start none there won’t be none” what about the family’s of those entombed at Pearl Harbor? No we shouldn’t apologize, it was started by them, it ended by us. Hatred isn’t the answer, but we are not going to sit idly by while we are slaughtered……

  15. I watched this last evening. Thank you everyone. I wonder if these nice ladies are still alive in 2019? My best to them and their families.

  16. I'm curious what right-wing US Christian beliefs are on killing for a war? The death penalty? Mass murder of innocents, such as Hiroshima? Or do their religious beliefs only apply to Americans and American laws?

  17. Should have thought about that Before Pearl Harbor, the Philippines, Wake Island, Guam the Baton Deathmarch, ect ect ect. I have little to sympathy, I'm not sorry. You would have happily dropped it on us. You got what you had coming and personally I would have dropped more than just two.

  18. Everyone in these comments is stupid. YES Japan committed war crimes and some of the worst atrocities you could imagine; rape, genocide, infanticide, murder, torture. YES the Japanese killed thousands of Americans on American soil. YES the Japanese civilians had nothing to do with the war or with the sins their military was committing. YES invading the main land would have killed more people than these bombs ever killed. That doesn’t take away from the fact that this was a terrible chapter for the entire world and for the United States. This is ugly stuff. So let’s stop arguing about what the Japanese did, and start having some compassion for these people that had skin falling off their bodies, maggots in their burns, body parts literally falling apart. I don’t even need to mention how the Japanese government treated their own civilians. Have a little decency.

  19. If Japan had discovered the bomb first, you can bet your ass they'd have used it. Feel bad for the innocents that died, but it was not a mistake to use the bomb.

  20. If Japan won the war their citizens would be sorry for you racist and some of them would tell they deserved it, right side in war is the winner because they write the history after the war and convince everyone loser side was evil.(I'm not saying fascism is good but i am saying your racist comments are not so diffirent theian their ideology.)

  21. The Japanese want to talk about Hiroshima, but they don’t ever want to talk about Nanking or the Philippines.

  22. The Japanese government at that time was offer to surrender many times ! The prime minister Japan deliberately ignore the Potsdam declaration and gambled its own civilians they should blame its governments for the conquest of South East Asia !

  23. Its a shame that innocent civilians suffered. However, our boys buried inside the USS Arizona were also deliberately attacked, and we were not at war with Japan at the time. Nobody wins in a war.

  24. Alot of innocent people died slowly and painfully. For those who take pleasure in war you truely have never seen disaster at it's cruelest.

  25. These survivors were shunned,no one would marry them. They were seen as shameful.

  26. Do you know how many innocent Korean and Chinese Japan killed during the first half of 1900s and they don't even teach that history in their school?

  27. The poor lady wasn't responsible for the nuke but neither USA. Japanese government was responsible for stealth attacking pearl harbor
