The scent on this cream is very complex. Moon soaps is described Amaretto Speciale as ”A nutty almond liqueur with ribbons of syrupy dark cherry and a hint of buttery, toasted almond biscotti. This cream is deep and complex, both light and dark.” the scene strength is an 8 out of 10. At first it’s easy to just think this is just another Cella type scent. But as you lather it and take in the scent, this scent blossoms into more. It’s warm, not overly sweet, and something I would reach for often. For those that like strong scents, you will not be disappointed. However, if you are afraid stronger scents may irritate your skin, don’t be! I normally fall into the whole strong scent = will irritate your skin. I am happy to report this did not.
In my experience, shaving creams have always lacked in areas of post shave and slickness. Creams have always been underwhelming for me. Compared to the amazing soap bases that are out there, creams just fall short. The only shaving cream as of recent that really changed that was the Luxury Shaving Cream by Caties Bubbles. This shaving cream from Moon Soaps has entered into that space. The consistency of this shaving cream is somewhere between a tub of TOBS and Cella. I used the size of an almond and got a lather that felt and looked like a Wholy Kaw Buffala Base lather. There are no special tricks to make this lather. Like other shaving enthusiasts, I wanted to see how much water I could add. It can take its fair share. I was afraid that I was going to add too much and run into this cream thinning out and dissipating during my first pass. The lather held up great.
This is a tallow based shaving cream and the tallow is rendered in house. Fun fact, the husband is a butcher and brings home the fat and his wife (the brilliant soap maker) renders it and uses it in her products. From the butcher to the barber (or in this case my bathroom). 10 out of 10 for me

Had my eye on Moon Soaps, that scent sounds wonderful. Very interesting backstory to this one.
Lovely job Abraham
Thanks for describing the smell of Tertius. I've been thinking about getting it but couldn't imagine what it smelled like but if it's getting unsolicited compliments, that's a pretty good sign. It sounds kind of heavy-wintery scent. Is that right or do you think it could work for spring as well?
This scent caught my eye.
This scent sounds pretty amazing. Great review, Abe! Look forward to seeing what else Moon Soaps has in store moving forward.

Great shave!
Hi Abraham- Great shave and soap review; thank you! Great description on this soap and can’t wait to give it a try! I hope you are doing well and all the best!
I picked this up at the expo in nyc. It was incredible.
Great one. I tried it at the expo – the scent is delicious and very strong!
Post Shave feel with a Cream, should be better than with a Soap, as a Soap can strip moisture because, well, it's a SOAP, while Creams have added moisturizing benefits, so that's a weird statement really…
Another thing, is whether you rub it against the grain or not, doesn't matter, it's the same as when people think the brush lifts the hairs, weird myths… You don't just go mowing your lawn in one line either, right? 😛
