Chanel Factory 5 | Is It Worth the Hype?

Last week Chanel celebrated the 100th anniversary of Chanel No 5. To commemorate the centenary of the fragrance, Chanel released a limited edition line: The Factory 5 Collection. Chanel took the identity of No 5 and reimagined it into 17 everyday objects. Basically turning functional things into something luxurious and iconic.

In this video, I will give you a brief history of the fragrance, take you to my local Chanel fragrance boutique to see the collection and do a full review of the items that I picked up.

The collection’s design was inspired by pop art and it is reminiscent of Andy Warhol’s own infamous factory. The limited edition collection is comprised of body creams, lotions, oils, soaps, purse spray, purse spray refills, No 5 Eau De Toilet. Out of the 17 limited edition pieces, I went home with the bath tin and mystery box.

Let’s take a closer look at the Chanel No 5 Bath Tablets housed in a tea tin. I went with this one because it is made out of metal and I can reuse it for other things like teabags, small wrapped candies, or whatever your heart desires. It is a great decorative tin that won’t deteriorate easily. The No 5 Bath Tablet’s scent wasn’t too overwhelming for me but I was expecting the tablets to soften my skin and leave me feeling plush and soft.

I did ask my husband who is a professional bath taker, he literally takes baths every night to relax so I’d say he knows his baths pretty well. He said he liked the tablet but the scent smelled very “old lady like”

Are the bath tablets worth it? I’d say no. Is the bath tin worth it? yes.

Next I got the not so mysterious mystery box. On the website it lists what is in the mystery box which I love, because I didn’t want to pay for something I’ll regret. It comes with a Chanel Towel, Chanel No 5 Hand Cream, and a Chanel Nail File.

Is it worth it? Yes, if you’ve been wanting the Chanel Hand Cream because for $15 more you get a Chanel towel and a nail file.

Chanel No 5 Body Cream: Not worth it it because it is not moisturizing enough for me. However, if you love the scent of No 5 it is worth it.

Chanel No 5 Shower Gel: Worth it, because you can reuse the bottle and only if you love the intoxicating smell of No 5.

Chanel No 5 Body Oil: Not worth it. The packaging is genius, but I found the scent to be too overwhelming the moment you put it on. However, it does settle down. The oil is lighter compared to their other body oils.

Chanel No 5 Body Lotion: Not worth it. In my opinion Chanel’s body creams and lotions do not serve my skin well. It doesn’t moisturize it well.

Chanel No 5 Soap: Worth it if you plan to reuse the tin. The smell of the soap isn’t too overwhelming

Chanel No 5 Sparkling Body Gel: Not worth it, unles

Chanel No 5 Water Bottle: Not worth it, unless you really love anything Chanel. You can definitely buy the bottle from their manufacturer for much less but without the logo.

Chanel No 5 Decorative Tapes: No worth it, unless you really love to collect anything Chanel.

Chanel No 5 Purse Spray: Worth it, because compared to their regular travel sprays these are much smaller. I also like the design slightly more compared to the regular ones.
