How to pack bags to save space when traveling. Organize your suitcase. I stopped using packing cubes and did this instead. See how we got a pillow, stuffed animal, blanket, and clothes in a carry-on suitcase! Then I share a secret I came up with to make your clothes smell good and make doing laundry easier when you travel. This is a way to keep everything lightweight and organized while taking up as little space as possible.

If you don’t have a vacuum for your pillow or bulkier items, look for one at a car wash. You can roll the bag from the zipper to push the air through the valve. Or sit on it and then roll like the smaller ones. Some bags don’t require a vacuum (the link is above).

Wrinkles weren’t an issue for me, but if that bothers you, you can neatly fold clothing first.

  1. But how do you bring all that stuff back with you with no vacuum to take the air out of the bag?

  2. All the people commenting on wrinkled clothing is cracking me up. These are the people who iron jeans!

  3. These tips have been around forever and I'm thankful you share them with everyone here. Happy travels! ❤

  4. For the space bag with the pillow, what did you use to vacuum out the air? Was it your household vacuum or something you are bringing along on the trip?

  5. You do that to the pillow and very likely it will get permanently collapsed. I learned it the hard way.

  6. Ok, you’ve vacuum packed your pillow for you outward journey and stuffed it in your suitcase. What do you do when it’s time to come home and you don’t have access to a vacuum cleaner to shrink it to fit back in the suitcase?

  7. I would rather pay $25 a bag and check it then go through all this effort, and have to iron everything when you take them out of the bag. But it sounds like it works for you.

  8. I've been doing this for years but the only thing is that you sti need 2be mindful of the end weight in your bag just so you don't get hauled over for being overweight 😊

  9. I have tried a few rolling techniques, but was not successful in saving space or less wrinkles.
The vaccum bags does work well, but will definitely be incorporating the baggies, it will keep me from having to pack a travel vacuum

  10. so…you need a vacuum whenever you are staying to reseal your daughters pillow and blanket.

what do you do if you don’t have access to one?

  11. Does it have to be a certain brand because I just used a small hefty Ziploc and it just broke the seal.
