Since winter has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere, let’s talk about dry and dehydrated skin again and how to fix it. I actually have dehydration-prone skin all year round, so this topic is almost always on my mind! I’ve also had tons of people ask me what products to use and if I have any tips, so here they are.
I talk about:
* How to tell if you have dry or dehydrated skin
* How to treat dry skin and what products to look out for
* How to treat dehydrated skin and what products to look out for
* Extra things to look out for for both dry and dehydrated skin (they’re pretty similar)

You mention only cleansing with water in the morning but also mention wearing heavy occlusives at night (slug life), so how do you wash all that off with just water?
my skin has an oily t zone on my forehead with constant white heads on my nose and dry cheeks , it's hard to find products without being to oily or to dry
When your skin is dry and dehydrated….. :/
That helped me understand my dehydrated skin.. I've been using olive oil with cerave cream over it at night then on top I use benzoyl peroxide it really helped clear my skin due to wearing masks.. but now my skin looks really dry with just a light lotion during the day..I just recently started using clinique moisture surge, it feels nice but my skin evaporates it..I wear makeup almost daily so I'm probably over washing because of it,I also use makeup wipes🤦🏽♀️
I can't thank you enough Michelle. You're a great teacher .
Need to try this. Oily and dehydrated skin 😑
This is so informative, and exactly what I need! Thank you so much <3 I'm so confused, though… I tick off all of the symptoms of dry and dehydrated skin, BUT I also get acne/pimples. I struggle with somewhat pathological skin picking, so my pimples quickly turn into inflamed wounds. I saw another skin care YouTuber say that cleansing oils should not be used on inflamed acne. (Is this correct?) At the same time, foaming cleansers aren't generally recommended for dry and dehydrated skin. I've neglected my skin care for years, and now have a cleansing oil and a foaming cleanser coming in the mail (both Klairs), ordered before I learned more about cleansers. Now I'm VERY confused about what I should start with; the oil or the foam cleanser? What would you recommend? Having pimples on skin that is dry and dehydrated is sooo confusing! Blotting papers fall right off my face, still zits come bursting out. I have no idea what's going on, and haven't found any YouTube videos addressing this specific issue.
Something I've never been able to find an answer for is whether hyaluronic acid and caffeine should be used together. Caffeine is used to shrink eye puffs, and hyaluronic acid is used to plump, so don't they cancel each other out if used in the same product? I have really bad eye puffs, and I've heard that edema over the long term can cause sagging and wrinkles, so I've been using caffeine-based eye creams for years, but once I started learning about hyaluronic acid I realized it's also in my eye creams. Same with the overnight face mask I use for my otherwise super dry and dehydrated skin. But I've also heard that you should have a slightly damp face when applying a hyaluronic acid serum and apply moisturizer right after, because if there isn't enough moisture to draw from elsewhere, the hyaluronic acid will draw it from your skin and actually make you drier. So technically, if my skin is dry, and I want to shrink my eye puffs, would hyaluronic acid make the eye puffs worse or take them away???
A very informative video, love it! I have normal skin but during winters my skin would have this flakiness and always disappeared by the time the season changed. I always assumed I just had dry skin during the winter, but moisturizers aimed at dry skin would either break me out or not help at all. I’m finally getting that I may have dehydrated skin and now aiming at seeing if it really is the case.
This video is very informative!!!
If you're dark skinned, you get this dusty white layer over your skin when it's dry. So this is definitely a life saver

Love this look….
Very practical & helpful information, thank you 😊
The most informative video on skin, thank you Michelle.
I'm a bit confused, my skin seems to be dry and i also don't get much oil just a bit on the t zone through out the day , but when i use oily products i always get pimples , what do i do ?
My god I learned so much
Thankyou for your videos on skin care! My skin in winters becomes impermeable to any cream or any lotion. Whatever I apply, it remains on the skin and the skin becomes greasy on applying cream and sticky on applying any lotion. So my skin falks in which category? Dry or dehydrated? What kind of treatment should be given to my skin? Please suggest.
Wonderful video making each and every thing very clear. Thankyou!
Wait, isnt it summer right now?
here I am in summer, rubbing dead skin off my face every few days 🙁
Thanks
best youtube creator ever, i really stuggle with my skin type i thought i have a dry skin but i get so much oil and tried many dry skin product but it didn't worked , now i get it i have dehydrated + combination type so i looking for product with more humectant , thank you so much
awesome video!! thank you❤️
11:52 – Okay so Lab Muffin doesn't do occlusives during the day. Now I'm following! I was wondering how she went about that with the super-light sunscreens that don't have occlusives, and she just, doesn't. At night time she does. Biore watery essence does have some dimethicone in it though. I think I'll gravitate towards that one in winter. The rest of the time it's quite humid in this region of the world.
My skin is on the oily-combo side but it feels itchy and thight… I've assumed it was dehydrated but since my skin is actually quite soft and plumb maybe it's a skin barrier issue, idk… anyway, thank you for this simple break down 🙏
Anyone knows which lotion she is talking about on 10:03? She said La roche posay … lotion, but I don't get which one
okay but if you don't cleanse off the occlusive before the morning routine, won't it clog pores?
