I created a duet cover of “Best Friend” by Rex Orange County using voice samples from Jinjin and Moon Bin. I particularly enjoyed Jinjin’s deep voice when rapping, and thought it would be interesting to create an AI cover of him singing. The song evokes a sense of longing, disappointment, and the pain of unrequited love. It also highlights the importance of forming and maintaining meaningful relationships. It can also be related to losing a best friend. The song portrays the fear of losing a loved one and the protagonist’s willingness to do anything to keep them in their life. In the same way, losing a best friend can be a painful experience, and one may feel like they are losing a part of themselves.
